This teaching by Swamiji explores the profound spiritual wisdom shared through simple songs by wandering mendicants (Parivrajakas) - God-realized souls who have traveled throughout India for 5,000 years.

## The Wandering Mystics

These enlightened beings live in a constant state of divine bliss, yet they compassionately wander from village to village, accepting whatever comes by God’s will - whether a poor man’s simple meal or a rich man’s feast. They don’t beg, as they possess everything of true value, yet they appear as beggars, giving spiritual wisdom through simple songs that ordinary people can understand.

## The Song’s Core Message

Swamiji explains a song he heard from an anonymous sadhu, which he later composed in Tamil (“Vidha Vidha Roopamada”). The song teaches that:

*Everything is ultimately dust and clay* - whether you’re:

- A Vedic scholar or the lowest caste member
- A beggar struggling for food or a king eating royal feasts
- Possessing gold, silver, mansions, titles, or power
- Experiencing desires, hatred, or romantic love

All forms are temporary - shaped by the Supreme Potter (God) from the same clay.

## The Profound Twist

The song then reveals deeper wisdom: If you mistake this dust for something permanent and valuable, you remain deluded and “mad.” *However*, within this clay pot (the body), there shines luminous gold - the eternal divine Self. Those blessed souls who perceive this inner gold realize that everything is actually divine (Brahman), not mere dust. The entire universe becomes dazzling spiritual light.

## The Tragedy and Grace

The teaching concludes with a metaphor: like a beggar who prays for 10 months to receive a precious pot, but foolishly plays with it until it breaks - most people waste this rare human birth. The true mystics, however, recognize the pot’s value, realize the gold within, and ultimately merge with the Supreme, attaining immortal liberation.

This is how great souls like Tyagaraja humbly declared themselves among these liberated beings.
