One-to-watch, Liam de Bruin steps back up to the Heard and Felt plate with the irresistible live house grooves of "Lavender".

Since the release of modern disco jazz funk number "Friday Evening" on Heard and Felt we've impatiently waited for more from this exciting musician and producer. Finally, under the guiding hand and ear of Heard and Felt label boss Ennio Styles (3RRR FM/Worldwide FM), Liam is readying an EP that set to explore his love of house music and live instrumentation, from disco, boogie and jazz funk angles."Lavender" is a deeper number than "Friday Evening'", embracing more synth tones and a slinky, sexy, late night feel. And just when you’re feeling settled in the spacey groove, you find it's been growing in all directions, twisting into a low-key disco jazz bounce.

Considering Liam's feel for live house, jazz funk, boogie, and so on, it's no surprise he has been embraced so quickly by fellow Melbourne artists that have inspired him, like Close Counters, Horatio Luna, Teymori and Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange. Also recommended for fans of fellow MIMS-favourites, like Malik Alston, Julien Dyne, Byron the Aquarius, Floating Points, Kyle Hall, Theo Parrish and Duke Hugh.

"Lavender" is released on October 15 on Heard and Felt.

Julio Galvez is a music lover, world traveler, community organizer and entrepreneur. Known by his stage name, The Whooligan, he has over 15 years of performance experience as a globally-recognized artist. From 2013-2018, he was the Director of Worldwide Bookings and Partnerships for Los Angeles based music collective, Soulection. Now, The Whooligan is focusing his time outside of his demanding show and production schedule to build on his newly formed humanitarian organization, Room Service International. Room Service aims to give-back by amplifying stories from underserved regions all over the world and activating community service projects that bring tangible change within these communities, all through the power of music. The seasoned artist, event curator and humanitarian brings a unique perspective to the music industry through service, open-mindedness and inherent positivity. As a celebrated bookings specialist and world class DJ, Julio has curated, managed and performed in 20+ domestic and international tours, as well as countless one-off events, reaching 6 continents and over 100 cities. His relentless work ethic, insatiable curiosity for travel and undeniable love of bringing people together has fostered a community in celebration of progressive-underground dance music, diversity and exploration. 

 

As a multifaceted and genre-bending artist, he’s also shared the stage with the likes of the late Mac Miller, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kenny Dope, Just Blaze, DJ A-Trak, Mark Farina, Tokimonsta, The Internet, Little Dragon, De La Soul, Kaytranada and more. The Whooligan’s live DJ performances permeate an eclectic, stylistic mix of internationally influenced progressive soul, funky house, disco and feel good hip hop that will mirror the energy of the crowd, his love for people and his intimate connection with the world and travel.

Whether blending two records in a unique fashion or working closely to cultivate next level talent, the common thread is his ability to see beauty in all. 
Perhaps his greatest ripple in the arena’s of music and culture culminate in his humanitarian organization, Room Service International. A group founded by The Whooligan that aims to “amplify stories and important issues from underprivileged and impoverished regions from all the world.”

The Whooligan’s unique perspective and keen ear are evident in our latest MAPLE Radio mix titled “Always Moving Forward V2’. Tartelet Records is proud to present its 2019 compilation ‘The Second Best Time is Now’, featuring nine unreleased tracks from its pool of esteemed artists. This year, all proceeds will be donated to the Natural Resources Defense Counsel, one of the world’s most effective environmental action organizations. 

Ho ho ho—Tartelet Records has once again reached into its secret stash of tricks and dug out some incredible gems. Following 2016’s compilation success with all proceeds sent to Syria’s White Helmets, the 2019 Christmas release has attracted an even broader spectrum of sound from nine of the label’s most honorable artists.  

Featuring Tartelet Records’ signature eclectic mix of genres, Christmas is saved with unreleased works by Wayne Snow and digitalluc, jitwam, Space Ghost, Glenn Astro, Kasper Marott, Verner, N.O.T.E, and label head Dirk 81. Each track has been handpicked by the artist themselves to represent their unique style in support of a bold charitable cause.  

This year, the Natural Resources Defense Counsel (NRDC) has been selected as the recipient of all proceeds. As one of the world’s most prominent environmental protection organizations, it strives to protect nature in ways that advance the long-term welfare of present and future generations. Tartelet Records is proud to support this important mission with its exclusive end-of-year release.
