Nearly a year after releasing his latest LP «Selfportraits» on his usual abode The North Quarter, Toulouse based DJ and producer Julien «Redeyes» Salvi has teamed up with two motivated youths from Toulouse, Tom and Eva, and an illustrator from Caen «Loofi», to bring a new record label to life.

Five Alley was born from a collective love of soulful music and the will to create something genuine and new. Already deeply rooted in the soulful aesthetic that Redeyes is known and loved for, the label aims to deliver much more than quality music: it positions itself as a strong vector for social justice and a curator of artistic talents. In fact, 20 % of the earnings of every release will be donated to a social activism organization.

In basketball, the alley-oop requires timing and teamwork. «Five Alley» is a nod to the notorious move and as a label, we want it to truly embody those values.

In the continuity of Redeyes’ musical master-work, the label’s sound will expand beyond the borders of Drum and Bass to welcome not only hip hop and jazz sonorities, but also a wider variety of bass music.

The first EP to be delivered on the label dubbed «This Must Be the Place», is a 4 track melodic delight symbolically featuring some of Redeyes’ closest friends and longtime partners: Lenzman & Monty, with DRS & [KSR] on the vocals.

 Superduo Artificial Intelligence are back at the forefront of the Drum & Bass scene in a new era of releases as they continue to carve a truly unique position in the Drum & Bass scene with their consistently progressive sound. Their debut album for Metalheadz Timeline dropped at the end of last yeargaining widespread critical acclaim and the outstanding follow-up EP “Shrine” which hit the official national charts this summer, are testament to their unrivalled heavyweight status.

 

The unstoppable London duo comprising Glenn Herweijer and Zula Warner have recently raised the bar. Their newly sharpened unique production style can be heard in their latest material ,which combines the current digital sheen of modern electronica with classic vintage sound bites.
