The silence was unbearable, you could cut through the tension with a knife. Staring at one another in disgust had been replaced with eyes fixed firmly on the floor; they had nothing left to say, nothing that hadn't been screamed and unheard a thousand times before. There was no room for manipulation, blackmail or tears now, the damage had been done, and that was something they'd have to sit with for the rest of their lives. 

Amsterdam-based vocalist and performer Sophie Du Palais AKA Vrouwe Fataal has previously wowed listeners with her commanding 'fetish-inclined' vocals on acclaimed releases for Pinkman and Dekmantel Recordings. 

Following a solo production outing last year via Hague-based imprint traumgarten's debut compilation, Sophie offers up her debut solo LP ‘Endurance of Pain is the Power of Being’ for B.F.E. Records. Across the six tracks, Sophie explores themes of lust, hedonism, technological obsession and millennial alienation, leading the charge with her sinister and untamed vocals that sit on a bed of electronics that pull from EBM, acid, techno, industrial and wave.

The 80's punk intuition and its characteristic ramblings undoubtedly give this album a particular character. Also fetishism, sexual exploration and domination are clearly a big inspiration. Mannequin Records is proud to announce the release of the Miami 80's synth/goth heroes Life in Sodom, with the repress of their rare first 12'' single "The Stains". This extended edition includes a bonus track - 'Phantasmagoria'- and a friendly dancefloor cut of the title-track by the label head Alessandro Adriani. 

Conceived by vocalist Gerrie Brand, the band was starting out as performance art, and quickly became more as Gerrie surrounded himself with some of the best musicians from the club and art scene in South Florida, including our dear Mystic Bill, who was playing the guitar with the band in the early stages.

Originally self-released in 1991, the single "The Stains" became an underground club hit and charted on many college radio stations, in both the extended and the original version. The single was distributed as a hard to get promo only release. The repress contains also the title-track of the single “Phantasmagoria" - another cult tune for early 90's goth djs - originally released in 1992. Mega tip!

Neud Photo (Nico Nightingale) has been on a tear lately and this latest offering for Mysidian shows up as his most dark and menacing. The electro meets techno sound we know him for is still prevalent but the amnesia-inducing 'Dreamz' carries thumping EBM and New Beat influences as well. R&S meets Subway meets Mute. 
While each track plays on it's own themes independently with tasteful vocal samples and industrial energy, the thing they all have in common is obvious. 
They completely satisfy aural wishes excited during the day which remain unrealized. They are simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes.

Neud Photo - B1 - Aether

M Parent brings us a soundtrack of American dystopia, one that gives a pointed sonic voice to the bubbling frustrations and anxieties of our time. While American politics play out like a circus on the world stage, M Parent responds to the question of what it means to be American through dirty acid riffs and eerie electro synth stabs. The album opens up with the title track where a deep voice bellows, “The American Dream was a lie,” setting the stage for what comes next. A warped sense of reality bubbles over in Lose Your Mind, as a wailing electric guitar plays a distorted rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. On the track They Gave You What, a glitched out 808 breakbeat unwinds as psychedelic paranoia sets in over a stiff melodic hook.

But it’s not all doom and gloom, as it wouldn’t be a complete encapsulation of the American dream without a sense of hope. Balancing the LP out are playful tracks and aural details that keep the American tradition of funk alive. Fucked Acid offers a bright acid track with a funky falsetto synth line. At the album’s cheeky climax, Electric Snake, a reptilian beast is lured out with 808 toms and beat back by unrelenting snare rolls. Maniacal laughter and an acidic bubbly lead race towards the album’s conclusion in the track Get In. The LP finishes with Groovy, an uplifting track that adds a fragile sense of optimism.

The dark & brooding sound of Namesis debuts on Soma with the Rave Is Dead EP. Taking inspiration from various electronic disciplines such a new beat, EBM and even industrial, Namesis have collected a solid release consisting of superbly crafted dark, synth driven music. 

The EP’s opening track Blade Runner, a collaboration with Corvad, has dark and futuristic overtones as jarring synths rip at the heart of the track with serious intensity. Lies Around leans on more industrial vibes with ominous sweeping pads screeching across a base of distorted synths and crashing percussion. Title Track Rave Is Dead is a sinister and dread inducing trip as a direct beat drives a hard message. Call Me Out feat the vocal stylings of Sunko is a more paced affair that still caries the twisted sounds of Namesis, with a broken beat and apocalyptic feel present from the opening. Whispers in the Dark closes out this unique release for Soma as polyrhythmic synths and epic vocals create a higher atmosphere whilst still retaining the foreboding sound of Namesis.
