Our first release for 2014 comes from new member of the Artillery family, Affinity, aka Daniel Marchbank. The ‘Vulture EP’ is the debut release from the 18 year old New Zealander.

Addicted to FruityLoops from the tender age of 12, this two track EP shows off Affinity’s range of production. ‘Submersion’ is an electro house track featuring beautiful and uplifting melodies. This track will be at home anywhere, be it warming up or peak time. ‘Vulture’ is a chilled 90 bpm trip, with pseudo vocals holding down the melody while the bass elegantly filters in and out. 

Expect to hear plenty more from Affinity in the not too distant future.

Affinity - Submersion

Ben Johnson and Raphael Zak aka P.E.S.T., return for their second release on Artillery. ‘Monster’ takes us in to the realm of drumstep with Mila Falls putting her heart on the line describing an imploding relationship. Santego lays down his side of the story before we up the tempo for final chorus, dropping into a half time drum & bass finale. 

2014 is going to be a big year for P.E.S.T, not only are they in the studio working on original material, they are expanding their portfolio producing for Major Look as well as branching out into the live arena, mixing live instrumentation with electronics and featuring guest vocalists from the likes of Nadine, Santego, Zoe Zak and Stapleton. 

P.E.S.T continue to work with some of the most exciting vocalists on the scene. Mila Falls has previously had releases on Defected and has an album on the way in 2014. Santego is a new south London rapper on the scene, his debut mixtape ‘96’ recently came to the attention of Tim Westwood.

P.E.S.T - Monster VIP Feat. Mila Falls & Santego

Los Angelean producer Echo Park (aka Mr. McFly / Gun Jack) is back with Bounce, a scintillating 3 track EP to be released through Artillery Recordings.

With what started as a fun jam session, the title track ‘Bounce’ is summer hip-hop at its best, featuring Daft Punk-esque vocoded vocals by The Ego. ‘My Flame’ continues the sunshine vibes with a head-bopping instrumental, an unorthodox combination of cinematic synths and ingenious trademark sample layering. ‘House Is Not a Home’ concludes the EP, folding 2-step percussion and acid jazz melodies to create what he describes as “a West Coast take on UK funky house”.

His unique sound has gone as far as BBC Radio One DJ, Zane Lowe, who describes Echo Park’s music as ‘remarkable sounding’. Skream shares his sentiments describing him as ‘amazingly talented’ after releasing Echo Park’s album on his ‘Disfigured Dubz’ imprint. This EP offers a rich smorgasbord of soundscapes making ‘Bounce’ the eclectic hip-hop EP of the summer.

Mark Heaney’s career has spanned a staggering 30 years. Having played with numerous bands including The Seahorses, The Shining and more recently post punk legends Gang of Four, as well as session drumming for some of the world’s greatest producers, working with the likes of The Stone Roses, Placebo, Dream Theatre and David Bowie to name a few.

Described by Rhythm Magazine as ‘one of the most jaw dropping drummers in the UK’, Mark is renowned for his aggressive style, frightening speed and flawless technique. He is also an established composer, having lent his services to various music houses including Sony and EMI.

Monument of Sound, Pt. I showcases Mark’s skill set as both a producer and a drummer. With beautifully composed musical backdrops, this collection of chilled tracks combine a cool blend of ambient pads and atmospheres with synths, lo-fi samples and of course, live drums. Pt. II will be an altogether more intense and uptempo affair, featuring Mark’s powerful trademark drumming style with an overall tougher sound. Monument of Sound, Pt. II will be released early October.

Devil’s Gun are back with a re-invention of Vanilla Ice’s ‘Ice Ice Baby’ out on the 25th November on Artillery. 

‘Macho Gusto (Ice Ice Baby)’ brings this 90’s number 1 single properly into the 21st century, messing with the vocals and dropping a distinctive and infectious bassline. ‘Up & Atom' takes you back to the rave, with a hybrid of breakbeat drums, electro synths and sawing basslines.

James Bird and Olly Goodman, aka Devil’s Gun are not new to making dance music anthems, previously having worked with Example (reaching no.2 in the MTV Dance chart and over 2 million views on YouTube), Killa Kela, Sam Sparrow, Mike Posner and recently producing records for Ruby Goe and Queen Of Hearts. 

With previous radio support from Annie Mac, Annie Nightingale, Eddy Temple-Morris, Loose Cannons and Steve Smart, expect to hear ‘Macho Gusto / Up & Atom’ all over the airwaves. 

On the live / DJ front, James and Ollie have had the masses jumping to their beats.  From rocking out alongside Klaxons and Mark Ronson on the East Dance Stage at Glastonbury, supporting Hard-Fi at Dance Rocks in Ibiza, playing live at Get Loaded In The Park sandwiched between MSTRKRFT and 2ManyDJ's as well as DJing at Beach Break, V Festival, Secret Garden, Isle Of Wight Festival, Turnmills (for NYE) and Fabric.

King Dinosaur saw his debut EP, ‘The Night’, light up the blog-a-sphere with everyone from XLR8R, Wonderland, Salacious Sounds, Planet Notion and MTHRFNKR praising this innovative release. Radio support came from Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens, as well Eddy Temple-Morris on XFM and DJ EZ on Kiss FM.

King Dinosaur’s next EP is due for release 10th February, featuring guest vocals from Frankie Knight (Arp Attack).

CutWires joined the Artillery family back in January with their debut release ‘Come To Pass’, favourited by Sister Bliss (Faithless) and Far Too Loud. 

Since then they have been embracing the London dance music scene, inspired by the likes of Dusky, John Talabot and Disclosure. After going back into the studio, CutWires have put their stamp on the deep house explosion.

‘Don’t Talk’ is a laid-back percussive vocal house track with an infectious female hook and a cool melodic bass line. With remixes from Shooting Horses, CTA, Dirty Lookin’ Mobile Disco and Jaxz, there's a mix here for every club, bar or sunset.

Outside of the studio, CutWires are continuing to DJ to crowds across London and are about to embark on a live show beginning later this summer.

Featuring soaring vocals from Audra Nishita and two very different mixes from the guys, a dubstep version and a distinctly 90s sounding original breakbeat mix. Also included is a glitchy chill out mix from fellow Artillery artist, King Dinosaur.

P.E.S.T. have had success with their unofficial bootlegs, which consistently reach the top 10 on Hype Machine. Their remix of Florence & The Machine’s ‘Rabbit Heart’ reached the number 1 spot on Hype Machine, scoring over 10,000 plays on SoundClo ud and 300,000 views on YouTube.

These remixes have landed them radio support from Kiss 100, XFM, NME Radio, Rinse FM as well as East Village Radio in New York. They have also had DJ backing from the likes of Annie Mac, Eddie Temple Morris, Loadsta  r and DJ Zinc. 

Since then they have gone on to do remixes for Island Records and All Around The World, before joining us at Artillery.  

P.E.S.T - Elevation feat. Audra Nishita (P.E.S.T.'s Dubstep Mix)

Back in 2010, Knightshock aka Players Please, stealthily reworked Howard Jones’ ‘Things Can Only Get Better’. A dance floor anthem that had Pop Justice making it their Song of the Day after numerous spins from Kiss FM’s, Steve Smart. Players Please has now given this floor filler a 2013 reboot, just in time for the summer!

‘Things Can Only Get Better’ is the second outing for Players Please on Artillery, following ‘Welcome To Detroit’ released back in January with support from Sister Bliss, The Drumattic Twins, So Called Scumbags, Fedde La Grande, David Dunne to name a few. 

Under his Players Please moniker, Mark Turner has also released music through Eye Industries, once home to Russ Chimes, Alan Braxe and Michael Gray. His ‘Feels Like Fire’ release, sampled Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘Power of Love’, the first time the band had officially cleared a sample in over 10 years.

Mark is an international producer, with an MTV Europe Music Award nomination under his belt for his work with Portuguese electro rock artist, Slimmy. His music has featured on both television and radio, and can be regularly heard on the BBC, ESPN and FOX.

He’s also had plays on BBC Radio One, Kiss, Ministry of Sound Radio, as well as support from Pop Justice, Pete Tong, Steve Aoki, Steve Smart and Eddy Temple-Morris.
