"ABAKUS (also known as Cinnamon Chasers) begins 2014 with the Tokyo Express EP - 5 tracks of warm, evocative electronic music that sit somewhere between Sasha, Guy J, Pryda and Tom Middleton, and offering a much-needed step forward from the dead-eyed mediocrity of current EDM.

The son of The Kinks’ founder, Dave Davies, Russ has followed a different musical path, sharing live stages with artists ranging from Amon Tobin, A-Trak, Nero, and 12th Planet through to Diplo, Aeroplane, Paper Diamond and Mad Professor at alt-electronic music festivals like EXIT and Lights All Night with over 50 shows in the US alone last year.

This release mines the deeper end of electronica and melodic house compared to the French-style electro of his former Cinnamon Chasers guise, the project that gained notoriety with the hit tune and video ‘Luv Deluxe’, which won the award at the 2010 SXSW Conference for Best Music Video and became a major online viral hit and screened at over 30 film festivals worldwide."

Abakus is the avantgarde futuretronica artist project of music producer Russ Davies, who also releases nudisco-electro under the Cinnamon Chasers alias, and progressive rock/ambient with his father Dave Davies (founder of 60s cult act The Kinks) as The Aschere Project.
Abakus explores the deeper and more emotionally complex side to electronic music and the upcoming album later this year is undoubtably his finest work to date, an intensly heartfelt expression of the vast amount of music knowledge and experience Russ has aquired over the 10 years he's been producing and performing globally.Themes of space, other-worlds and dreamlike landscapes are a consistent theme in all of Russ' music. 
As a precurser to the album Abakus hits us with an EP entitled Beyond The Fields EP, which features 6 melodically potent and dreamy futuretronic beats, and you can hear many references to his most seminal influencial tracks such as Orbital - Hylcyon, The Orb - Pink Fluffy Clouds, FSOL - Dead Skin Cells, all mutated into his unique fusion of danceable beats and mind-melting soundscapes. 
His sound drawns many influences from old and new and has become known for being of it's own kind, a fusion of downbeat, dub, techno, trance and electronica. His initial album "That Much Closer To The Sun" as Abakus was released in 2004 on Liquid Sound Design, record label of award-winning producer Youth, and published to Jazz Summers Biglife, and was an album that appealed to both fans of psychadelic and balearic chillout. In the 6 years since releasing this album Abakus has built a special devoted following of fans globally which has seen him revieve bookings to perform at countless festivals and parties world-wide.Music from this album and from his collaboration with Humphrey Bacchus as Nada have been licensed to over 40 downbeat CD album compilations, on dozens are key labels including Ministry Of Sound, Cocoon &amp; Bhudda Bar. Abakus has remixed The Orb, Our Man From Odessa, The Perishers, Roxy Music. In 2010 he released an EP with the track Wasted Feeling, this EP had a stronger club groove to it and recieved strong support from DJ's such as Laurent Garner, Jodi Wisternoff, and Seth Troxler. Russ also releases nu-disco and electro music under the moniker Cinnamon Chasers who's hit track Luv Deluxe won awards at SXSW for Best Music Video, Cannes Film Festival new directors award, and nomination at UK-MVA best Dance video.

"In a world far across the boundless reaches of the cosmos, a Luminous Alchemist crafted a realm where light could refract into infinite possibilities, creating vibrant Otherworlds. The Enchanted Voyage of a Cosmic Cartographer began, their mission to map the vastness of this extraordinary multiverse. Each discovery revealed another layer of the Quantum Tapestry of Dreams, every thread representing an alternate future, forever branching out into the infinite.

On this journey, the cartographer encountered the Interdimensional Frog, a wise, mystical creature that offered a unique elixir – the Medicine that could heal the deepest wounds and mend the fabric of the cosmos.

As the cartographer traveled through the Multidimensional Crossroads of Eternity, they embarked on the greatest Venture of their existence. A rendezvous at the Nexus of the Multiverse awaited, where they would meet other explorers, each with their own tales of discovery.

Together, they navigated the swirling vortex, guided by the gentle whispers of the cosmic wind. The Fractal Reality Navigator, an ancient device, revealed the Spectrum of realities, each more breathtaking than the last.

As they Ascended the Helical Staircase of Conscious Evolution, the travelers found themselves in the legendary Cities of Gold, where the Celestial Architect crafted the Galactic Tapestry. Amidst the luminescent stars and gleaming structures, they understood that every dream, every hope, and every fear had a purpose.

With newfound wisdom, the explorers returned to their homes under the stars, transformed. They held onto the promise of a better tomorrow, knowing that, as long as they were together, they would always find a way.

For in this extraordinary realm, where the impossible became possible, and the interwoven dreams of countless beings danced on the edge of reality, they found solace in the knowledge that they were never alone. United in their love for the cosmos and one another, they continued to explore the vast expanse of the multiverse, forever reaching for the unknown."
