  Written in a time where I was convinced that a certain arrangement of conscious decisions would somehow help me navigate my way towards a pre-determined desirable outcome, whether that be a career goal or the outcome of a relationship that seemed to be at a dead end.

  My life was quite literally in the middle of big changes at that moment; my time at university was wrapping up and the future was scary, there were new people in my life and I had a renewed sense of hope for what I could achieve with my music. Things seemed to be somewhat optimistic, if not a little chaotic. 

  This song reminds me of that sense of wonder, hope, fear and excitement for an unknown future and that sense of pride you get as you diligently march away from an uncomfortable past. Hindsight proves that when you never turn around to appreciate the miles you’ve trodden it’s easy to feel like the wall is still right behind you, so it’s no surprise to me now as to why I felt this way.

  The drums, bass and guitar were recorded at a studio on Lever Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter by Matt Steele and Jasper Wilkinson. The vocals (much to the dismay of my neighbours on Braemar Road in Fallowfield) were all tracked in my bedroom; it had absolutely no treatment and I used an old Behringer B2 mic.

  This song was always meant to be the single; we felt like it was hooky enough and stylistically relevant and consistent to represent us at the time.
We made a video for this at James’ Grandma’s house in February 2017 on a real shoe string budget; an all-in-one camera man, director, producer and editor and all things considered he did an amazing job.
