Track number 2 of my month-long production challenge ✌️ This time with some nice African vocals and a driving synth. Love the simplicity and energy.

Initially tried to mimic contemporary Afro House styles like Keinemusik but at some point I realized that the keys/overtone harps didn't work for this vocal.

Then, decided to go all in on a more "mechanical/automated" tech-house vibe. Not sure what to call it. Afro Tech 🤷‍♂️

For this month's third track, I'm happy to collaborate with my friend Iva (aka @divaa-international).

This is a Bulgarian folk song originally called "Katerino Mome."

Unique and uninhibited voice. I tried to do it justice with the instrumentation.

Series 1.3: Hubava (feat. Diva International)

Track 10 was a surprise production. Couldn't get inspired for two hours, then found this vocal progression and immediately had an idea. 

Instrumentation-wise pretty simple: kick, polyrhythmic toms, bass, perc, and layers of vocals. Tried to get the kick/bass sound pressure right.

Series 1.10: signal

Track 11 is finally going in the creative direction I envisioned. Groovy, melodic, and constantly driving.

Finally got an Ableton template and a few Ableton instrument racks done, which sound according to my taste.

From conservatory to club.

Art Lapinsch makes melodic techno from a foundation of classical training. Trained as a solo violinist at the Vienna Conservatory, he approaches production as composition - mixing the timbres of the concert hall with the energy of the club. 

Art's sound merges organic classical elements with driving synthetic rhythms. He released on Berlin-based indie label Rhythm Research and on Hamburg-based Exposure Music, which has worked with artists such as Black Loops, Human Movement, and Kyle Watson.
