These poems formed the linking moments along the Murmuration March that took place in the summer of 2023 at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, it was organised by Artlink Hospital Arts and supported by Becky Brazil, Tonic Arts - Arts and Greenspace Manager. 

The March congregated at the Glasshouses and took a thirty minute route around the hospital. It was lead by compere George Demure and throughout the event Omar Afif, a Gnawa musician provided live music and at each stop there was a poetry drop, in all a collection of the six Murmuration Poem’s written and read by Simon Porter recorded by George Demure.

The Murmuration March was a collective effort by people attending the Glasshouses workshops as well as wards across the hospital under the artistic direction of textile artist Laura Lees and Anne Elliot from Artlink.

Artlink works hard to increase opportunities for individuals who experience disadvantage or disability to take part in the arts in Edinburgh and the Lothian region. We offer practical support to get you to the arts and work with venues to increase opportunities to enjoy the arts. We explore how the arts can work for you through establishing creative partnerships with artists and create possibilities to get involved in your community.
