The Ukrainian DJ and producer #BSKD first joined forces with Nastia during her major NECHTO showcase in September of 2020 and the two later played b2b during Nastia’s residency at Beatport on Twitch. Now the artist is glad to present a four-track EP on NECHTO.

“This release consists of four different tracks, which were written at entirely different times and even in various places,” says the Ukrainian producer.” Each track means something particular to me, in general, I think that it turned out to be a very interesting EP. I am very glad that I can take part in such a project like NECHTO, and certainly, I am glad that my work is released on a Ukrainian label.”

For #BSKD electronic music is a means of communicating with like-minded people and is a vital tool for self-expression. Each release holds a special meaning and importance to the artist, and every track correlates with a certain moment in his life. In terms of creativity itself, the process must be instinctive and come from the core - if composing a track feels mechanical, it is best to let go. This approach to music makes the artist’s sound genuine and distinct.

Following the labels theme of reaching beyond the conventional record label by combining music experimentation, short narratives, true stories, and illustrations – Jujuka 002 pushes into new territory with the Split EP “Raw Reflex” featuring founder Julia Govor on the A side followed by the first recordings of EMIT.  Julia reaches into her imagination to find Soviet Union enthusiasm met with an American punk drive to add to her signature vibrant arrangement.  Behind the EMIT alias is the intricate and vivid musician / producer – Kamran Sadeghi.  EMIT read backwards is ‘time’ – the continuum of experience in which events pass from the future through the present to the past.  The project is guided by the literal and musical use of time.  A culmination of styles unravel within each track, encouraging listeners to discover their own path through the rhythmic and tonal patterns.  The music belongs to every-body and no-body.

‘Broken Pencil’ is a combination of sharp and high frequency sounds that break the rhythm, twisting it with Julia’s demonic vocals singing iconic 90’s era Russian lyrics from the cartoon “Antoshka”  – Julia calls it “Bedford–Stuyvesant Techno”.  ‘Naked Soul’ was produced during a long and lonely tour around Asia while listening to “Train” from the Solaris soundtrack by Edward Artemiev on repeat.  In 2012 Julia conducted a video interview with Ricardo Villalobos, where he confessed that he fears dreaming and therefore “prefers not to sleep”. For Villa Tone Julia sampled that part of the interview and used Ricardo’s voice to build loops and textures.  The rhythm became something between Reggaeton mixed with UK bass.

Much like all music by Emit – ‘Hyphen’ was recorded live in the studio.  The original version is over 30 minutes long and has the lead cyclical synth pattern very slowly and subliminally approaching the mix from a far distance – a soundtrack for the time traveler.  ‘Free Stuff Forever’ is like a linear conversation that is making sense, then at some point it becomes abstract. Rather than altering it’s natural course you perch on the highest branch in the tree and gaze into the horizon – free your stuff forever!  ‘Greyscale’ was inspired by the theory that right angles do not exist in nature and are a human invention instigated by their upright posture, making them perpendicular to the ground plane – creating the spiritual intersection of the heavenly and earthbound.
