From humble beginnings as a part-time assistant in a record store in Antwerp to rocking global techno stages on a weekly basis, Ramon’s rise to the top has been a steady and meteoric one. Manchester-based duo, OC & Verde, were two of last year’s best upcoming British producers, generating genre-wide acclaim through notable releases like ‘Maasai’ – released on Knee Deep In Sound. Ben O’Connor and Jon Verde are back with this groovy 2-piece EP in Solstice/Horizon, released on VIVa MUSiC.

Manchester had quite the year in 2016, as the likes of Solardo, Kaluki Music and The Warehouse Project stimulated it’s raving scene, like three decades previous. OC & Verde are one of many rising artists deriving from the city, and the pair regularly played at the infamous soap factory, Sankeys, prior to its unforeseen closure.

‘Maasai’ catapulted the pair to unforeseen sights following the endorsement of Pete Tong who named the track his Essential New Tune. However, other notable productions can be found on Suara’s Kitties Wanna Dance (Volume 7) in ‘Vertigo’ plus remixes released on Bedrock Records, Selador and Glasgow Underground.

The future is bright for these two talented producers having gained support from Hot Since 82, Coyu, Richy Ahmed, Denney and Solstice/Horizon is the perfect start to another promising year for OC & Verde.

The Internet allowed us to use media in a different way, but not for this reason we have to stop to dig. Playlists might be good, and Youtube is cool as well, but where is your joy to discover something beyond that concept? Like a mad alchemist on a mission, Emmanuel melt whatever comes to his hands, the result is a fucked up Interruption in some sort of dimension. No Mix was intended, the tracks are played all without counting the timing aspect on different channels, exactly as a standard " playlist transition", Interrupting your daily routines. Raffaele Attanasio was born in a family of musicians. He cultivated a passion for music since he has been a child, infact he started to have piano lessons. At the age of 12 he started to take ones first steps in the world of djing and after 5 years he made his first productions. In this period he was really into techno music, electronic music and classical-contemporary composition. 

In 2007 he took the piano graduation which improves his artistic language. Raffaele Attanasio is a pianist, arranger and producer. During his career he collaborated with artists such as Orlando Voorn for the personal compilation on Nightvision Records. Now he is supported by important artists such as Len Faki, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Kirk Degiorgio, Chris Liebing, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Oscar mulero and Dustin Zahn. Raffaele made remixes for Trapez, Gynoid and the last is called Telrae for Reimut Van Bonn. 

At the moment his success Black Bloc EP (NON 001, 2011) is on charts. It's the first output on the spanish label. It's about a work made up of solid and snare techno groove. It's also going to come out the remixes version (NON002, 2012). The artist has choosen Italy as his home. Raffaele wishes one day the public will be less xenofile because it should be proud of italians talents and don't make them live the "Bel Paese". European artists should be less envious of italians. Raffaele Attanasio is the proof of italians success.

Hailing from Croatia, we welcome Insolate, a powerhouse of the European Techno scene. Known for her pure-bred, groovy Techno sets, she shows a deep knowledge of the genre and a natural presence in the booth.

A big amount list of clubs, festivals and countries have already seen the strength of her skills. Label head honcho at Out Of Place and the creative force behind the TRAUM events in her home country, she has also released on labels like Modularz, HEX Recordings, and made a contribution to Ben Sims’ Tribology compilation.

Some of her upcoming projects include vinyl releases like a full EP on Nord LTD, a VA contribution, a remix album on her label with remixes from Pfirter and many other news.

Great to have Cologne based artist and found of 'wach & wütend', Christian Zah delivering a fast, high energy mix for this weeks episode. Christian is not just a regular behind the decks in his home town but makes plenty of appearances across Germany bringing his fluid mash up of techno and trance to those of us searching for something a little crazier. Number 060 in the @polegroup catalogue is tight and sharp. Oscar Mulero is the mind behind this creature, offering three cuts of merciless techno exercises both physically and digitally. 

The opening track is "Tormenta" translating to Storm in Spanish, a fast-paced groove with almost all elements up from the very beginning. Wisely distorted drums, continuous filtered sequences, a sharp elastic line running and mutating across the structure. Direct and mental at the same time.

"Espectro Rojo" translates to Red Spectrum and begins with obsessive distorted evolving lines, shuffled hi-hats and precise kicks. The stereo field is constantly worked out augmenting the experience exponentially.

"Gradiente de Voltaje" closes the EP, the overall feel is less distorted and more opaque and lo-fi. The liquid filtered bassline is soon joined by distorted hats, alternating patterns and twisting the sounds wisely. No sudden interruptions, no abrupt changes, just the right dose of hypnosis to use as a powerful tool.
