We kick off the year with a POOLcast edition of .subd from Brazil. POOLcast 086 is a refreshingly energetic piece of work, the perfect start to a new year with our POOLcast series.

Every year around new year, some reflect on the past one, and others wonder what the new one has in store for them. Sometimes we look back on the past and let our thoughts wander into the future. But it is quite usual for these two behaviors to be very much separated from each other in a person's life. To make the same decisions for the future on the basis of experiences is often not possible. Times, people and oneself are subject to constant change, so it seems deceptive that future decisions can be made purely on the basis of the past. But here art can serve as an anchor between the past and the future, letting us experience nostalgia and an atmosphere of departure simultaneously. Art can unite past, future, chaos, order, nature and technology, helping us to have truly timeless experiences.

From the outskirts of Osasco/São Paulo west zone, he is the only one in his region to produce this style. He started in 2014 after quitting Sobhi of being a professional football player, he brought a party from Israel and did several projects in the noble part of São Paulo. The place where the electronic music scene is located today. He plays amateur football and makes music as an amateur artist and his label is Sólido.

Vlad Sóro is a true master of his craft, an alchemist of sound who could transform any space into a mystical realm of his creation. His music is a gateway to other worlds, a journey into the unknown. 
As he plays, the air began to vibrate with a palpable energy. It was as if he was conjuring up a storm, summoning dark clouds and thundering basslines that shook the very foundations of the world.

We continue our Podcast Series with a mix hosted by one of the founders of https://soundcloud.com/modum-podcast, https://soundcloud.com/kyle-mckendrick. This Manchester-based DJ is known for his stripped-back sound and he’s projecting this in his Implicit Mind Cast too. As a producer he’s has been making progress, which is reflected in his tracks. For example his newest ‘Easter Blend’, a smooth stripped-back track available on Bandcamp. With Modum, he and his friends were focussing on secret location parties and had support from the biggest names in minimal like Herck, Sepp, Suciu & Nu Zau. Also, they have a Podcast Series, with over 20 podcasts and every single one worth checking!

Kyle takes us on his journey, where he provides us with a smooth collection of tracks including his own work. In this one hour set, he is projecting his deep minimalistic sound, which is warm and full of body. Besides the minimalistic atmosphere, he continuously drops bassline after bassline, which keeps the set in a consistently rolling vibe. Both components are perfectly mixed by the skilled artist. We would say: enjoy it!

This is followed by a two-hour minimal tour de force. An organic piece with a velvety bass, a poem by Baudelaire recited with a voice from beyond the grave on a percussive cloud. The piano invites itself as a distinct element throughout the set, in a succession of dark and colourful landscapes, but remaining in an abstract sphere.
Between shamanic and psychedelic, surprising elements emerge from random sequencers. We revel in a real rhythm and groove lesson that is spiced up with many indistinct vocals. Mechanical noises send chills up the spine, and a powerful swing dominates the performance like an invitation to wiggle that one can’t refuse. 
A superb sung vocal contrast with the minimalist locomotive, quickly won over by an orchestral cacophony and a spiritual pan flute. Beckhaüser closes his performance with a super funky brass band track and demonstrates the versatility of his selection. This set confirms the passionate and expert mix of the artist, strong of his experience as a label owner and one of a kind music enthusiast.
