It's that unwanted surprise attack from your heart telling you that you aren't doing enough with your life. The restlessness that resides and flows through your veins during the ungodly hours of the day. You're trapped in a room with no light and you can only regret that you should have been out when the day was bright.

I made this song during those forsaken hours when the witches and the wizards walk among the ghosts and the living. For my soul to awaken me from the slumber of staying hidden in the shadows of historians. To no longer hide and cater to the shape of the world. To awaken myself from these unneeded anxiety attacks.

In other words, to get my lazy ass out of the desk and do more with my life.

Anxiety Awakening (Raw Piano Version)

This song is so dramatically titled just because it sounds like a combination of the song Hey There Delilah and My Immortal. 

This song is inspired from those days where you just stare outside your window watching the rain drops slide down the glass. You can ponder on both happiness or sadness, either way, you're definitely thinking about something that means much significance to your life. 

The music I make is on a visual mission - to make music that can be matched with the visuals of a dramatic movie scene. All my life, my friends have made fun of me for having this inclination to the dramatic perspective of things. To seek weight and gravity, when it isn't necessary. 

Instead of going against my own nature, I embraced it and here I am trying to translate it in the one instrument that truly speaks to me - the piano. When the time comes that the inevitable grief is upon you, may my music help you ponder and move on.

Delicately Immortal (Raw Piano Version)

Every year, in every generation, there will always be that epic movie scene taken from a real life situation or an imaginative one where the protagonist catches himself at a very low point of his life, and has some kind of awakening that makes him run for his life to what he wants. This song is inspired from those moments.

That moment when the broken hearted lover realizes what he's actually letting go of and conveniently makes it to the airport before she's gone forever. That moment when the superhero is beaten down to bits and is thought to have nothing left, but manages to get on his feet to throw the last of him to defeat the villain. That moment when the protagonist is about to lose his life and has a flash back of all his loved ones, which drives him to fight one last time. That moment when the great leaders of war stare at each other right before running into battle and saying, "This is it."

It's those moments in movies and the beautiful music that accompanies it that makes you wonder what it is you're doing with your life, and why you aren't running yet. 

Stop watching movies, stop seeing the world through another persons eyes. Stop living the life you want to live through another. Run. Go for the direct experience. Taste all that is said to taste bad, feel all that's supposed to feel good. Stop basing experiences on what the experienced have experienced, and have yourself your own set of experiences. 

On the final days of your life, will you tell your children your story, or the story you heard of others?

Runner (Raw Piano Version)

In the attempt of making my music a bit faster and more energetic, I present my first multi tracked song. Experimenting with the different kinds of sounds Garageband has to offer, I used one of the pre-made drum loops to match the other sounds I made with my keyboard. 

I've been writing this song for quite a while now, and haven't figured out really what atmosphere it generates. So I will leave it to you, and hope you enjoy.

Driven

Back when I was younger, my family influenced me with a lot of Charlie Chaplin material. From watching Gold Rush to finally hearing his voice in The Great Dictator, I watched him with much gusto that throughout my years, I still consider him one of my greatest inspirations. 

One day back in college, I found this video on YouTube of Charlie Chaplin's Great Dictator speech with a song from Album Leaf in the background. I instantly fell in love with the piece and listened to it constantly. I told myself that one day I'd be able to make music as background to words that would move people.

So here's my piece, an original I call 'Transitioning', with Charlie Chaplin's voice. This song was entitled such because I made the melody originally from this piano app I got for my iPad a year or so ago, and and I transferred it to my keyboard.

Transitioning - The Great Dictator

This song is dedicated to my grandfather, who's played a gigantic role in my life, way more than being a father figure. 

I grew up being able to relate to a lot of movies, being the kid who never knew his father (of course, ridiculously notched down as I didn't carry a crazy purpose in life like saving the world). This man, this magnificent man, saved me.

I grew up in a world full of art, life, and love. From the basic discipline of always being thankful to the intricate practice of being a passionate being. My grandfather (together with my mom, my stepdad, both their siblings), raised me to believe that the world needs art and beauty, but that art and beauty did not just live within artists. My grandfather taught me that wherever I go, bring love and art with me. Be it business or artistry, food or photography, bring art and love with me.

He is the core root of my being. He is the driving force of my life. Many people say that their core root of their being is God. I can say the same thing, as I found God through him. 

The growth of my being is in gratitude and in dedication to him. 

Happy birthday, Wowo. Son of Father of Philippine Movies, Jose Nepomuceno. Director of Dahil sa Isang Bulaklak, Igorota, and many other award winning movies. Owner and creator of Angel's Breath. My father, father of all of us.

Sidenote: This song is called Sensitive Feet because as I wrote it, a mouse ran across the floor below my keyboard. Yes, I panicked but I kept playing.
