Star B, aka Mark Broom & Riva Star, drop ‘Love Will Remain EP’ on Rekids.

Both Riva Starr and Mark Broom are respected DJs and prolific producers, with individual releases on the
likes of Rekids, Hot Creations, and Starr’s Snatch! Records, amongst others. Together as Star B, the duo
craft disco and funk-infused house and techno with expressive vocals and heavyweight production.

Leading the release, ‘Love Will Remain’ brings chunky, pumping drums, spoken word, and funky disco slices together for a grooving A-side. On the flip, ‘I’ve Got Joy’ heads for the club, combining synth stabs and rocking percussion under heavy-low end and spine-tingling vocals for a surefire party-starter.

Robert and Lyric Hood return as Floorplan to Classic Music Company with another double release of divine house goodness. 'We Give Thee Honor' is a high energy rave number with an instantly recognisable hook as a syncopated organ stab is juxtaposed with a wild vocal loop and unpredictable gospel interjections, creating the unique energy of worship in full flow. The second cut, 'Makes Me Wanna', has a more minimal approach to production, playing to Floorplan's club expertise. Both tracks are packed full of powerful, feminine vocals that celebrate the duo's spiritual influences.

Robert & Lyric Hood’s globally revered house and techno project, Floorplan, return to Luke Solomon’s Classic imprint with ‘Like Dat’. As an early member of Detroit’s Underground Resistance, Robert Hood understands what it is to be the vanguard of a genre, now celebrating his faith through gospel inspired dance music with his daughter Lyric Hood. Together as Floorplan, the pair have built a strong relationship with Classic over the years, earning the respect of tastemakers like Seth Troxler, Dan Shake, TSHA and Jamie Jones thanks to their unmistakable gospel house and techno sound. Recent releases like UK radio favourite ‘We Give Thee Honor / Makes Me Wanna’ and underground cuts ‘The Curse Breaker / What You Need’ further proved Floorplan’s willingness to show their full talent at every turn. Now they continue this trend with ‘Like Dat’, a rolling house release built for the long club nights, accented by esoteric percussive sections and vocal stabs that cut through with ease.

UK techno legend Mark Broom returns to Rekids in February to release four uplifting cuts in the form of his ‘Break 97’ EP.

Mark Broom’s musical career is certainly something to behold – with over 150 releases over the past 25 years, on top of regular gigs across the world’s most renowned institutions, there’s no doubting his work ethic and his influence upon the scene. A prolific artist and true pioneer in the techno world, having worked with revered labels such as Warp, R&S, Ifach and Soma, and in more recent times Blueprint, EPM Music, Red Sonja Records and his own Beard Man Records, his ‘Break 97’ EP kick-starts 2019 for Radio Slave’s Rekids as the imprint adds yet another outstanding name to its roster following the likes of DJ Deep, Sebo K, DJ Spider and more.

‘Break 97’ sets the tone of the EP with a fusion of techno and disco, delicately blending funk-infused chords and resonating kicks amongst groove-filled vocals, before ‘Heart’ delivers inspiriting disco samples, punchy low end and elevating strings to reveal an effervescent aesthetic throughout. ‘EFB’ takes things up a notch, offering a dancefloor focused cut balancing rattling highs, vibrant synth flutters and a muffled vocal line, until ‘G Theme’ rounds out proceedings armed with robust percussion, electrifying vocals and undulating, euphoric keys.

Moon Boots’ acclaimed LP ‘Bimini Road’ saw the Brooklyn-based artist on top form. A showcase of his soulful house flair, the album won praise from Mixmag and Billboard, and was named in KCRW’s ‘Top 10 Albums of 2019’. The energetic ‘Juanita’ featuring soaring vocals from Kaleena Zanders now gets the remix treatment from two esteemed underground producers.  

A prolific figure in the techno world, Mark Broom has worked with pioneering labels like Warp, R&S, Soma and Mo’ Wax since appearing on the scene in the early 90’s. Known for his driving, swinging sound, he now adds Moon Boots to an impressive list of remixes that includes techno royalty such as Floorplan, Chris Liebing and Cajmere.

Italian-born, Madrid-based producer Bawrut has quickly become one of Europe’s hottest producers, picking up support from Sven Vath, Dixon, Kolsch, Hunee, Midland, Jackmaster, Erol Alkan and the late great Andrew Weatherall with his releases on Ransom Note and DJ Tennis’ Life & Death imprint. His hypnotic remix layers syncopated cowbells with acid motifs, marking an impressive first appearance on Anjunadeep.
