Gavin Griffin, better known as GMJ, has been a consistent force in the progressive community for nearly a decade. Kicking his GMJ moniker off in early 2008 through Jesse Kuch’s “Open Records” & Kasey Taylor’s “Vapour Recordings” and further through the years with appearances on “Sudbeat”, “Balkan Connection”, “Flow Vinyl”, “Particles” & “Proton Music”. His style gravitates towards the atmospheric, melodic side with a partiality towards a strong groove, and he’s clearly taken that direction with his remix of Luke Sambe’s “Becoming”. Along with taking cues from the original, he’s added his own little magic through extra vocal bits, complimenting drone & groovy basslines and atmospheric fillers, all supporting a riff that runs through the track. Goosebumps moments ensued.

The latest release on Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Dousk back to the label for a brand new EP. The Greek artist has found a comfortable home on the Greek imprint with this being his ninth appearance. A strong 2017 has seen chart topping releases come courtesy of Beat Boutique, Flow Vinyl and Proton Music while releases on John Digweed's Bedrock Records highlight his extensive discography. Now making a much anticipated return to Movement Recordings Dousk presents his latest EP entitled 'West Of Dub'.

"Fueled by an evolving creative process the Greek artist has remained at the forefront of electronic music for over fifteen years. Now Dousk showcases his studio repertoire once again with his latest three track sound story 'West of Dub'. The EP's title cut begins the journey into deep, cavernous grooves and funk fuelled rhythms. Esoteric vocals add mightily to the narrative, forever shifting the focus as dubby tones and wonky stabs fill in the framework. A timely break brings a hint of atmosphere as anticipation builds, cleverly constructed for maximum dance floor dynamics and an even groovier finale.

The EP's second selection 'Life is like a Carnival' might be one of Dousk's most creative sonic experiments to date. Quirky and cool in all the right ways it's nasally design, bubbly hypnotics and organ overlays lead the narrative . A fluid effects line carries the main break, building to a boil as a lone vocal steals the air and the kick drops for a dramatic finale. Already featured in Luke Brancaccio's mix for Decoded Magazine this one looks sets to be big all through the fall club season.

Effortlessly traversing genres the EP concludes with the subterranean funk of 'Yo''. Swollen bass stabs, delicate hypnotics and distinctive vocal elements carve out a groovy first act, before the vocal narrative expands throughout the break, setting up a powerful drop. "On the next installment of Karakter Records, the label spotlights a truly unique geographic combination where Brazil meets Russia with a Portuguese-Indian blend. Art in Motion and Panorama Channel met in Russia a little over two years ago, sparking the connection that eventually led up to this unique release. “The Last Adventure of Voodoo Houngan” is as fitting a name as ever; already feeding the imagination while the soundtrack fills in the last blanks. The hypnotic rhythms, whispers and pads slowly explain how the dark omen influenced the fate that befell upon Houngan, grasping for a last method to give his final sacrifice a purpose. Or perhaps you tell a different story with that you hear?

Both Art in Motion and Panorama Channel have already earned their spurs as pioneers of the deep, rhythmic and emotional blend of house music. Brazilian producer Vicente Amadeo has seen his earlier works being released on NYC-based Stranjjur and Mother recordings (and earning plays by all the big diggers, such as Lee Burridge and Laurent Garnier), while the Panorama Channel guys have made a steady rise in recent years with their two EP’s on Biologic Records, grasping the attention of for instance Âme and Abstraxion.

Lastly, we are honored that Lisbon based @Switchdance makes his return on Karakter with a remix based around grooving drums, delivering the deepest piece of this release.

PREMIERE: Art In Motion & Panorama Channel  - The Last Adventure Of Voodoo Hougan [Karakter]

Appearing on Proton Music with "One Side of the Underground, Vol. 1" in November 2017, Rick Pier O'Neil took another step forward in confirming his iconic status. "One Side of the Underground, Vol. 2" now sees a pair of remixes from Israel and Mexico continue the story with a trio of new tracks from O'Neil himself. 

Igal Magitman is an artist with a rich and varied story to tell. A best-selling artist whose music has featured for Sony PlayStation along with DJ performances in Europe, Brazil and his home country, the Israeli has seen his music signed to the likes of Global Underground, Spinnin' Records and Toolroom. A regular on Proton Music since a 2008 debut, Magitman's remixes of Nick Stoynoff, Silinder and Andrea Cassino have been notable highlights while October 2017's "Recovery" EP showcased Magitman's original work. Reworking "Glade", the essence of O'Neil's original runs through the remix in driving rhythmic and bass groove. Building effortlessly, a wonderfully pulsating synth line hypnotises with its unrelenting power, pausing for a dramatic breakdown that creates a stunning moment that culminates in rhythm and synth harmony for the final movement.

Diego Carr is a name that has continued to find its place in the underground dance scene through his Hot TuneiK moniker. From his home, the Mexican producer has delivered a wealth of material that has resulted in over a double-century of production credits since 2012's debut. Going on to find his music on the likes of Balkan Connection, Forward Music and Sound Avenue, Carr's own Hookah imprint has served as another important vehicle. A regular on Particles, April 2018's "Revival" EP was a highlight as two original tracks shone a bright light on the Hot TuneiK sound, complemented by remixes of Andre Sobota, Lanvary and Matter. Returning to remix "Glade", the driving power of the original is matched by a new hypnotic groove and low-slung bassline that bears the hallmarks of O'Neil's original. Building with ease, a rippling arpeggio meanders across the mid-range in mesmerising fashion as counterpoint pads come to the fore in the third movement.

Contributing three outstanding new tracks to "Vol. 2" Rick Pier O'Neil's "Another Side" is built upon strong rhythmic foundations as plucked chords provide a head-shaking groove. A wonderful, growling bassline enters the fray at the midpoint as a hypnotic synth combines with new bass progression post-breakdown in a sumptuous track. "Imperial" impresses with its driving beat and sublime melodic motif that repeats hypnotically as closed hats keep the percussive groove strong. An array of textured pads and sustained strings appear at the breakdown before a rousing crescendo leads to a wonderfully worked third movement. Redolent in driving beat and growling bass prowess, "Cancun" revels in deep, rich bass progression and gently pulsating pad textures. Hitting its stride in the second part, a wonderful blend of rhythm and cleverly programmed melody, create a work of genuine craft.

Remixes from Magitman and Hot TuneiK combined with a trio of new tracks from Rick Pier O'Neil showcase an alternative side in "One Side of the Underground Vol. 2".
