This track has been crafted and engineered to serve as a higher energy warmup candidate for big room sets. 

The latter mainly consists of a catchy solid bassline, powerful drive and groove, ever evolving and rising effects, big room style pianos, "party feel" male vocals, Lush big room style breakdowns leading into a sexy dirty moaning distorted lead bass peak moment and ends up in style with a touch of breakbeat.

This very technical, creative yet warm set was inspired by my days in the Uk ...autumn-winter days where I wake up at 10 am and find out that it`s sunny outside !! :D The set goes along illustrating the peak moments , the calm moments at the studio and those times when I find myself day dreaming about sunny Africa , Brazil and the summer in Spain..... when I head back home it`s around 10pm , I feel nostalgic, deep, light...I can feel the soft gentle rain on my face and I smile to myself as I walk on the empty streets :)

9 edited and tweaked tracks and mashups , lots of research to find the perfect sound effects(rain, vocal layers, acapellas, samples) to play with the senses , many creative tweaks and effects (delays,sampling , reverbs ,glitch , creative sound deterioration) made subtle enough to be exciting yet pleasant to the ear , many traditional DJ`ing techniques (eq boosts and cuts , fader cuts etc), FLOW, HARMONY , a beautiful journey through different types of of landscapes and feelings , innovative transitions and LOTS OF HARD WORK, SOUL AND LOVE!!!

This set was crafted to make the very technical people, the normal people , the electronic music loving people, the DJS,the clubbers and the audiophiles happy :D

WHAT THE SONG TOLD ME:
"I am all about sex, raw power, punch, funk, groove, rubbing and touching, dirty sexy naughty emotions, so do what you have to do to make me roar and bring out my personality."

WHAT I WANTED TO DO WITH THE TRACK:
"To be honest the mix made itself, it was speaking to me and asking me this and that, until it stopped asking me anything, so I knew that the direction was good..."

"...But apart from the spiritual connection with the song, I wanted it to shine, to have its own set of tonalities, textures and unique effects, like I like to do when a client sends me his baby to mix. I wanted it to pack a lot of energy, punch, groove, emotions into the song so that it can touch the audience. I also wanted it to SOUND EXPENSIVE, be very focused yet alive, and to be recognizable by its sound."

I also wanted it to feel like a little movie where things always evolve, textures change, energy changes, soundscape changes, surprises happen, there are goodies here and there, effects are not overdone, hell brakes loose in the chorus with plenty of controlled sub-bass and low end punch+ the electric guitars powering, and things get calmer, creative and intimate during the verses.





KICK : A normal kick channel, a distorted channel(yes I wanted a dirty sound) and a parallel channel of the same kick, processed differently to add the body and low end thump. Then the 3 channels blend into one, which is processed again to become tight. (Ableton gate, compressor and eq used)

BASS: It was hard to get a stable sound with a nice tone. I had to re do this part a lot of times and experiment a lot. (Ableton saturator, compressor, limitor, eq) There was also a nasty resonance which had to be sorted out. I had 3 channels for this too, one concentrated on the fingering, one for the 70-150 Hz for the verse, and a sub bass channel which injects power at the chorus. So the trick was to make them blend together into one and vary the blend depending on part of the track. In the verses the bass is lighter and more around 100 Hz, but in the chorus it tends to me more concentrated in the lows so that more space is made for the eletric guitar to express itself and sound thick and blending with the bass to give a sense of power. I also made a dedicated channel for the intro bass(the single sustained note). 

DRUMS(No other samples were added, I used the original drum tracks): Lots of gating, keying and manual chopping and editing. I wanted definition, power, impact and cohesion. Of course there is the compressed parallel drum bus to accentuate the groove and create oneness. The hardest part was to isolate the toms. I wanted a natural feel to the kicks and the drums, so I didn't compress all the hits to sound mechanical, instead I controlled the peaks slightly but also allowed the expression and nuances of the drummer to get through. I wanted my snare to sound thick and hit super hard so I made 4 snare channels, one for a slightly saturated sound(ableton saturator), one for the snap and transient energy(ableton 8's comp is very good for that), and one where I got the tone I wanted and crushed it with a compressor, and one where there is the original snare sound with just a high pass filter....then I blended the 4 channels to taste and then processed the final sound.

GTR: I separated the guitars and processed them differently, depending on their tasks and the section in which they play(so it always changes and evolves). I wanted to get some nice unique tones, being creative with some effects to create interest, while not being piercing and still conveying energy. There were a lot of automation involved and lots of eq-ing to get rid of the masking resonances.

VOCALS (objective: passion, expensive sound, size, clarity and hearing all the words properly) : Well this was I think the most demanding part as nasty resonances were peeking all over the place, and the tools were not sounding natural (Oxford Supressor and Waves C4) so I had to automate the EQ for every single part of the vocal track where resonances were peaking out(I didn't use dynamic eqs as there were too many resonances and it would eat up my computer power). I did a lot of manual editing to level out the vocals as much as possible and then used a compressor to make things stable and make sure that all the words heard, as well as the passion in the voice. I used the classic new york compression to bring in the body. The vocal processing I used in the chorus is different from the one in the verse. In the verse I wanted a soft, pleasant, sensual texture and rather intimate darker feel... while in the chorus I made it denser, powerful, I compressed and eq'd it so that it brings all the passion, excitement and energy when she belts out.

EFFECTS: Traditional plate and room reverbs (Valhalla and Lexicon), Concert Hall reverb (Lexicon), and 9 other effects channels and other combinations including some effects chains that I have created( blending delays, autopan, eq, chorus, flanger and other traditional effects etc). Why bother creating those special effects you will ask me ? Simply to make the song unique, stand out and interesting AND bring out more of the sex. For each song I work on I love creating their very own sets of special effects.

THE MIX: Eq'ing for space, using and playing with the depth and panorama to convey movement, while still having focus. Creating a sound which compliments all the musicians performance while still sounding like a whole. Pulling out all the emotions I can from the performance so that the audience wants to listen to the song again and again. Creating a unique sound, texture feel and vibe which belongs to only this track. Making sure that it sounds pleasant to the ears, feels good to the body and that it translates well to other systems. Finally, I wanted to give the song a direction and convey the sexy message of this song.
