Happy 3 year anniversary to HTIF, one of the most inspiring projects I've had the blessing of listening to :)

Since discovering @flume's music in 2016, I've traversed the depths of what we call "Future Bass" nowadays in modern Pop/EDM lingua. 

That time will always be treasured to me as an experimental era of Dance culture. SoundCloud transcended the way artists navigated our scene and this underground sound eventually became a mainstream one thanks to albums like "Flume" and "Skin". 

The left-field expression of Flume's evolution through "HTIF"  felt so raw and genuinely innovative at a time where Future Bass was already feeling effects of over-saturation. For me, it felt like he completely flipped the narrative of what this niche sound was by experimenting even deeper. 

This remix is an ode to me embracing that feeling of creative freedom <3

  Hi, hey, hello :)

  It’s been 2 months since my last release which fittingly enough was also a BLACKPINK edit.  Throughout last year, my beloved brother @hasaniwaters helped me discover more of the phenomenal world of K-Pop. During one of our Basketball shoot-arounds, he showed me PLAYING WITH FIRE for the very first time. I fell in love with the intro piano instantly and the song’s synths & melodies reminded me of the OG JOYTIME beats Marshmello made in his earlier days.   Naturally, I told my brother that I’d sample this piano one day.   

That day arrived a week after November 19th, 2022. 

On the 19th, the universe blessed me and one of my dearest best friends with the experience of BLACKPINK’s Born Pink Tour at Banc of California Stadium, Los Angeles.   

“Speechless, awestruck. Pinch me I must be dreaming. I can’t believe this is actually happening.”  “What the actual fuck, this is truly next level.” 

  ^A brief insight of the anxiety & pure joy I had when we witnessed the Pinks & fam share their live story with the City of Angels, a second home I gratefully have.   

The first version of this remix sat in my Macbook for awhile. Following my return from Seattle to celebrate Pantheon Music Festival, I was hit with COVID. 

And unfortunately, I passed it to my Mother & family. It took the entire month for us to recover. I isolated. Missed family reunions.. I thought that the depression I had been suffering from since Spring would pass but ultimately, the Holiday season had its way with me & I’ve struggled with seasonal depression all of my life.   

I enjoy finding peace & contentment in blessings in disguise though… Because that’s what this period of reflection led to. Through my darkness, I found more love in accepting the things I can’t control. Letting go of perfectionism because we are imperfectly perfect beings at the end of the day. 

Appreciating the culture & heritage I was born into. And learning how to unconditionally love others even if we don’t see the world in the same way.   

The biggest takeaway from this recent chapter is that I truly do have the most wonderful support system EVER. In spite of all of the pain and turmoil that have manifested.. everyone in my life truly has a kindhearted and forgiving nature about them.   

In this universe, I smile knowing that we are all gonna be ok. I rejoice and find gratitude with the life lesson that highs come with lows & good times co-exist with bad memories. Yin & Yang. Water & Fire. Air to Earth. Faith over Fear. 

As humans, we really are one big, united family & I almost forgot that.   20 years ago, my little brother joined our family and it’s all thanks to him that I’m a Blink these days lol. 

  With that being said, I’m STOKED, HAPPY, & PROUD to share this re-imagining of PLAYING WITH FIRE WITH all of YOU.

Empathy (A Summer Vibes Mixtape)

I feel like I've grown so much over this past summer and I'm kind of in awe of how beautiful life can be at the moment. In a way, this is like the sequel to Empathy. 

I wanted to cement this story with some of my favorite artists because I can't imagine where I'd be without their music.

A year ago, I fell in love with ODESZA because of their ability to take your soul on a journey through sound. I hope this mix acts as a respectful tribute and gives off similar vibes to their albums and live shows.
