Breakthrough

Soul singer/ songwriter/ producer Asaph Kay  and 3x finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest, the Zimbabwe native's soundscape reflects the Motown element, inspiration from the likes of Donny Hathaway, Bob Marley, Bhundu Boys and the gospel of Andrae Crouch. Kay Mak stakes a claim on the soul music frontier with this his fourth album Soul Revival released on his own indie imprint Heavystone Productions. The lead single off the album released in 2014 entitled Breakthrough stayed on the Power FM inspirational chart show for a staggering one year in the top ten peaking at #5. Kay Mak has written songs for the likes of Idols East & Central 2008 winner Eric Moyo and Botswana inspirational singer Joy Mliswa whilst handling the production responsibility alongside erstwhile collaborator Velaphi Gumbo whom some have likened to the great Stevie Wonder not only because he is also visually challenged but is a serious singer and keyboard virtuoso talent ! Kay Mak sees his quest as one of making music that transcends passing fads and culture. His subject matter revolves around faith, hope,love, relationships and togetherness.
