冬の冷たい風が吹き込む教室。窓際には小さな紙の雪の結晶が貼られ、もうすぐクリスマスだと誰もが意識していた。中学2年のサオとレンは、今年最後の「ペアテスト」に挑むことになった。

「ねえレン、今日は絶対に負けられないね」
サオが笑いながら言うと、レンは少し照れたように頷いた。
「でも、勝ち負けじゃなくて…二人で一つの答えを見つけるんだろ？」

試験問題は難しかった。英語の長文、数学の応用問題。サオは焦って鉛筆を走らせ、レンは冷静に答えを整理する。時に意見がぶつかり、時に笑い合いながら、二人は答案用紙に「二人だけの答え」を刻んでいった。

テストが終わると、先生が「今日は特別に」と言って、答案用紙を星型に切り抜いて黒板に貼った。教室の壁には、ペアごとの星が並び、まるで一つのクリスマスツリーのように輝いていた。

「見て、僕らの星、真ん中にあるよ」
レンが指差すと、サオは嬉しそうに笑った。
「二人で頑張ったから、ちゃんと光ってるんだね」

二人は小さな公園のベンチに座り、手にした包みを見つめ合う。
「じゃあ…せーので交換しようか」

サオが渡したのは、レンの好きな青色のマフラー。レンが渡したのは、サオのために選んだ小さな銀のペンダント。二人は笑いながら同時に包みを開き、互いの心が重なった瞬間を感じた。

その時、不思議なことが起こった。
公園の古い街灯が突然、柔らかな光を放ち始めたのだ。雪は星のように輝き、二人の周りだけが温かい空気に包まれる。

レンが驚いてサオを見ると、サオの瞳に映る光はまるで祝福のようだった。
「これ…誰かが見守ってくれてるのかな」
サオが呟くと、風の中に微かな声が響いた。

「愛し合う者たちよ、互いを信じ、支え合いなさい」

それはまるでイエス・キリストの祝福の言葉のように、二人の心に届いた。

レンはそっとサオの手を握り、サオも握り返す。
「僕らの答えは、ずっと一緒にあるんだね」
「うん…これからも、ずっと」

雪は静かに降り続け、二人の肩に積もる。だが寒さは感じなかった。祝福の光に包まれたその瞬間、サオとレンのクリスマスは永遠の記憶となった。

ڈیل مونیکو کا باورچی خانہ اب ریستوران نہ رہا — یہ ایک مقدس مقام بن گیا تھا۔

رانہوفر آگ پر قابو پا رہا تھا،
اپیکیئس خوشبوؤں کو جادو کی طرح بُن رہا تھا۔

ان کی حرکات ایک رقص جیسی تھیں۔
مصالحے ستاروں کی گرد کی طرح بکھر رہے تھے،
گوشت چاندنی کی طرح چمک رہا تھا،
اور چٹنیاں پگھلے ہوئے رات کے آسمان کی طرح گہری اور میٹھی بہہ رہی تھیں۔

ہر ڈش ایک ساتھ فن اور فریب تھی:

• ایک ٹیرین، جو ایک ہی نوالے میں چار موسموں کا سفر کراتا تھا
• ایک وائن ساس، جو زبان پر یادیں جگاتا تھا
• سنہری ٹرفل، اتنے الٰہی کہ رومی بادشاہ بھی گھٹنے ٹیک دیں
• اور سب سے عظیم کرسمس روسٹ — گرم اور روشن، جیسے کھانے والے کے مستقبل کو منور کر رہا ہو


اس میں کوئی زہر نہ تھا۔
پھر بھی ذائقہ براہِ راست روح کو چھو رہا تھا۔

✨ پہلا اور آخری عشائیہ

جب کھانے چکھے گئے، ہر مہمان ایسے مسکرایا جیسے اسے بصیرت حاصل ہوئی ہو۔

ذائقہ دیوانگی نہیں تھا، بلکہ شفقت تھی۔
مگر اس کی نرمی حد سے زیادہ تھی،
اس کی خوبصورتی ناقابلِ برداشت حد تک پاکیزہ تھی۔

پلیٹ در پلیٹ۔

ہر روح خوشی میں آزاد ہو گئی،
خاموشی سے اپنی تقدیر پوری کرتی ہوئی۔

ایک کرسی، پھر دوسری خالی ہو گئی،
یہاں تک کہ صرف شیطان کلاز باقی رہ گیا۔

اس نے اپنی شراب اٹھائی اور ایک خود کلامی کی طرح سرگوشی کی:

“کامل۔
کھانا — اتنا خوبصورت کہ روح چرا سکتا ہے۔”

رانہوفر اور اپیکیئس نے اپنی پلیٹوں کے ذریعے ایک دوسرے کو احترام دیا،
پھر آہستہ آہستہ غائب ہو گئے۔

جب اس “ناقابلِ تکرار عشائیہ” پر پردہ گرا،
ڈیل مونیکو کی روشنیاں نرم لہروں میں جھلملائیں۔

یہ اس بات کا ثبوت تھا کہ وہ رات واقعی موجود تھی،
اور ہمیشہ کے لیے دنیا میں ایک معجزہ کے طور پر کندہ ہو گئی۔

Outside the window, the city lights flowed like a distant river.
Allen and Elina sat facing each other, the Wisdom Notebook spread open between them on the bed.
The distance between them was just a little closer than before.

Allen frowned as he turned the page.

Question: Should a pair be ‘the same,’ or should they be ‘different’?

“…Philosophical. There’s no fixed answer, and that’s why it makes us think.”

Allen sighed softly.
“Maybe we tried too hard to be ‘the same.’
Matching our scores, our reactions, even our steps… But perhaps it’s because we’re different that we can support each other.”

Elina smiled and pointed to the next line in the notebook.

“Look. It says Exercise: Listing Differences.”

Exercise: Write down five ‘differences’ between the pair, and describe how each can be used.

“Shall we try?”
“Yeah.”

Allen picked up the pen.

“First… I’m short-tempered.”

“I’m the type who holds onto emotions. I find it hard to express my feelings.”

“So, when I’m about to explode, you’re the one who cools me down.”

“And when I shut myself off… your ‘loudness’ helps me.”

“Is that a compliment?”
“Of course.”

They laughed together.
The sound of their laughter wrapped the room in a soft, gentle layer.

Turning the page, blue ink danced across the paper.

Cross perspectives, frames, and time to see the ‘whole.’

“…This could apply to the score incident too.”

“Yeah. The coldness around us wasn’t just because we won.”

“It was about how we won, what expressions we wore… They saw all of it.”

Quietly, they wrote in the margins about their behavior during the test:
The proud smile.
Not looking at the other pairs.
Leaving the stage without responding to applause.

Each of these had unknowingly built small walls.

Elina gently turned it, and in a soft script it read:

Allen gave a wry smile.
“…We were the opposite of that.”

We can relearn. We can start again.
‘From where we can, from what is good’… right?”

On the first page of the notebook, they read aloud the words written there.
Their voices overlapped quietly, like a contract.

On the last page, written in strokes like moonlight:

You have taken the first step. From here, your resonance will become a ‘technique,’ and begin to take shape.

They gazed at the words for a while.
It felt as if the door to the future had creaked open, just slightly.

Allen stood up.

“Elina… let’s take the test again.
This time, as a ‘true pair.’”

Elina nodded with gentle eyes.

“Of course.
…Because I’m no longer alone.”

The moment their hands overlapped, a small light was born.
It was still weak, but warm enough to walk toward the future.
