Fresh off a Europe Tour, Ase Manual delivers “Cookies” -- his second full-length solo project of 2019. A thematic sequel to “Lumi,” Cookies sees Ase continue to translate notions of trauma, glamour, and desire into a progressive soundscape. Through means of digital production, Ase seamlessly blends the worlds of techno, house and jersey club to create his own firey electric sounds. The project artwork plays into Cookies’ collision of sounds and fiery presence as a digital collage done by Ngu Asongwed.

PUT YO ASS (HANDS UP) (feat. Escooter)

New York City’s own SHELL X and Vermilion Bird have teamed up for new single “Traviesa,” claiming space for an uncompromising, unapologetic femme presence in música urbana. “Traviesa” is a club anthem dedicated to empowered sexuality that’s as playful as it is powerful.
 

“Traviesa” is Ecuadorian-Salvi rooted SHELL X’s debut single, with agile, quick-witted verses landing over a driving, bass-heavy beat produced by Vermilion Bird, who hails from Argentina. Reminiscent of reggaetón’s earlier, Daddy Yankee-powered days, the track skillfully balances melodies programmed with classical orchestral instruments and perreo sample packs.
 

A long-standing presence in the scene, Vermilion Bird has recently shifted her focus to collaborate more exclusively with vocalists. The instrumental for “Traviesa” was written and produced in Vermilion Bird’s home studio, and vocals were recorded in New York City’s The Cutting Room Studios.

SHELL X & Vermilion Bird – Traviesa

BUK THE SYSTEM is a compilation of experimental electronic music made in Pittsburgh, PA benefiting the Bukit Bail Fund. Comprising nineteen original tracks, the compilation is both a collective call from the participating artists to abolish policing and prisons, and a fundraising effort to aid Bukit Bail Fund’s ongoing work to support those incarcerated at Allegheny County Jail.
 
The Bukit Bail Fund of Pittsburgh was founded in honor of Frank “Bukit” Smart Jr., beloved brother, father of seven, and grandfather, who was needlessly killed at Allegheny County Jail when guards denied him medication and forcibly restrained him while he experienced a seizure.  He was detained pre-trial, and had not been convicted of any crime. We stand with the Bukit Bail Fund’s demand to end cash bail, pre-trial detention, and the entire prison-industrial complex.
 
All proceeds from the purchase of BUK THE SYSTEM will go to the Bukit Bail Fund of Pittsburgh.
