A dim light appears in the dead of winter, growing and flickering until a narrative of dark and light is born. Our next guest has mastered these icy narratives through the musical passages he constructs as Silent-One. An integral part of the From Another Mind crew out of Stuttgart, Silent-One has formed waterfalls from whispers as he continues to awe audiences with his carefully constructed DJ sets. In 2016 he launched his own label, Intimate Silence, which has since become a platform for artists such as PVNV, Głós, and Dold to explore the innermost depths of their music. In order to thaw us out from the inside, he has put together yet another hour of sonic soliloquy perfectly fitting for this frigid season. Enjoy!

Divina Mundi: Tales of a dream and an acoustic reconstruction

When I enter the forbidden world, I'm frozen. I don't move, I look around. Everything seems strange to me and everything is completely different from what I am used to. I have no idea what's happening to me right now and I feel scared. This place is bursting with life and the creatures don't look like normal animals, but are much more airy and abstract. Every time I try to look at them, they disappear again, which makes it difficult to make an accurate observation. They make noises, which sound very harmonious and oscillating and have a mystical effect. The atmosphere in this place is completely filled with these benevolent sounds without being perceived as disturbing. I realize that this world is and has always been in perfect balance. In this pre- or post-human reality there is nothing that can disturb this tender and sensitive harmony. This thought is disturbing, because I know that a wrong action on my part would disturb this balance and endanger this utopian system. So I stay calm and observe everything without moving. Every object in this world is in motion and everything seems to revolve around a center point, which is too abstract to be recognized by me as such. Entropy is not present in this world. There is no intrinsic quest for disorder, because everything is perfect.

~ About The Story ~

Titan is the largest moon of Saturn. It is the only moon known to have a dense atmosphere, and the only object in space, other than Earth, where clear evidence of stable bodies of surface liquid has been found, including lakes, seas, rivers and rain. 

Kawaakari is the glow of a river or stream in darkness or dusk, the gleaming surface of a shadowed river (Japanese 川明かり).

DeepWarmth is a sonic melding of beats, usually but not limited to, Dub Techno and Ambient Techno. Also included on this are Ambient works of various kinds as James Shain. A welcome return to our Balearic maestro, Rich-Ears, who keeps the dwindling connection I have with the white isle going strong all these years later. Now I’m on the other side of the world, I like to live vicariously through Rich-Ears' mixes, coming straight from the heart of Ibiza (the right side of the island I should add) as he enjoys summer life spinning his notorious samples and blends of downtempo, chill-out and ambient.

I've been a little slow these past few months on the site, so I must apologize to Rich-Ears for sitting on this one for so long, as he prepared it for the summer months and with ASIP’s ten-year anniversary in mind. In 1992, Namlook created FAX as a means of releasing his own productions and collaborations. The label swiftly evolved into a huge stable for ambient-leaning artists of all shapes and stripes. The label was very much forged Namlook’s own image: catalogue numbers starting with PK signified a solo release, those with PS pointed towards other artists, and PW were reserved for collaborative exercises. Each of the releases were rarely printed in batches of more than 1000, building FAX’s cult cache considerably.

Namlook’s own work formed the bulk of FAX’s output, and runs to somewhere in the region of 130 albums. As you’d expect from a discography that capacious, it’s a highly varied collection. Alongside this 3 h 30 ambient mix, this mix shows an enormous body of work, a major achievement, and testament to a work ethic contemporaries could do well to learn from. If Aliens listened to music this is what they would be bumping in their spacecrafts.
