Russia’s Yulia Niko joins Jamie Jone’s Hottrax imprint this September with two rhythmic cuts entitled ‘Cheap Story’.

Kick-starting her career in Sochi, Russia, Niko’s formative years were on the East Coast as a resident at New York’s Verboten and Miami’s Heart Nightclub. Now based in Berlin, Niko’s releases have appeared on Get Physical, Natura Viva and MATTER+, not to mention her own vinyl-only TochnoTechno imprint. She now joins the Hottrax roster with ‘Cheap Story’, demonstrating her infectious and intricate sound that’s garnered support from the likes of Carlo Lio, Paco Osuna and Marco Carola.

‘Cheap Story’ sets the tone of the package with robust drums and a filtered 303 bass groove that unfolds throughout as cosmic chord progressions and distorted spoken word samples build tension. Up next, organic percussion, a thumping kick and muffled vocals are delivered alongside acidic synth sequences and crunchy drones, generating a high-octane conclusion.

Nut In Your Mouth instantly commands attention with an infectious vocal hook that ripples around the pounding bassline. Flow is a frenetic offering with a chaotic flow and elements of acid that tightly coil together before unfurling into a rich, unadulterated bass conjuring up a sort of rhythmic voodoo. The EP rounds off with Put Your Phones Down feat. Woodzy. The track utilises a burgeoning synth that grows steadily as a hypnotic vocal line bleeds an air of mysticism into it before Woodzy calls us to put our phones down and get up. 

Seb Zito has firmly established himself as a key player on the house and techno scene. One of the core residents of London party starters Fuse, Zito has an unwavering ability to connect with the crowd and regularly plays at some of the world’s most renowned clubs. He runs his own highly-praised imprints Seven Dials and F&Z as well as releasing a slew of well-received EPs on Fuse, Infuse, Play It Say It, Edible, Four Thirty Two, ORIGINS, Rawax & Kaos Theory. 2020 is set to be a seminal year for Seb with plans to grow Seven Dials as a brand and the release of his debut album.

Building on the momentum of the first release in 2020, Frame Music kicks off 2021 with another standout new EP, this time from Ash-R who serves up two originals while Marcellus steps up to remix. 

Ash-R hails from the east end of London and has played key clubs like 93 Feet East, Ministry Of Sound and Distrikt Leeds, all the while going with his own signature stripped back and sleek house sound that is utterly fresh. 

His excellent opener Maureen is a slick and punchy house cut with icy hi hats gliding over a rubbery groove. Deep yet driving, it is electronic house for the heads thanks to the spaced out pads and infectious sense of groove. Marcellus has released on labels like Elrow, Toolroom and VIVa MUSiC and he steps up to remix with more drive, toughening up the kicks and layering in some extra bite to the percussion. 

Last of all, Hannah gets more dreamy with balmy pads circling round the kinetic drum programming. Spoken word vocals add atmosphere, the bulbous bass keeps pulling you in, and the whole thing is perfect for up close and personal back room parties. 

These are three super stylish minimal house cuts for those who know.

ASH-R (Asher Robinson) is an artist from the heart of London’s east end. His musical influence came from a place with deep underlying connections to House music. Spending many Sundays absorbing the powerful gospel choirs, the rawness and feeling has carried into his musical endeavours. Drawing a simplistic line with his production efforts, ASH-R’s sound forms itself of unadulterated rhythm. Comprising potent drum grooves, loosely swung basslines and a fusion of elements from all corners of the House music spectrum.

  ASH-R gets inspiration from artists such as Jamie Jones, Rich NxT, Swoy, iO Mulen, Cuartero, Guti, Sweely and more. More of his work is becoming part of set lists from some of the industry’s biggest names such as, - Toman, Dimmish, Prunk, The Martinez Brothers & also Jamie Jones, who has also more recently been a keen promoter of ASH-R’s productions.  

ASH-R has been fortunate enough to share his passion and creativity in some extraordinary settings. Some of his career highlights to date include the likes of Ministry Of Sound, 93 Feet East & Distrikt Club Leeds. Along with this he has also made a headline appearance in Sydney, Australia. Along with commendable club bookings of course comes the opportunity to play alongside some of the industry’s most respected names. Such as Prunk, YAYA, ANOTR, Dimmish, Alex Arnout, Yousef, Rossi. and more.

  As he continues to enrich the masses with his unparalleled work ethic and seemingly boundless creativity, ASH-R is an artist with a clear and simple goal. To tell a story with his audio signature, reminding us of where he comes from and even more so where he’s headed, whilst staying unconventional and remaining standout in his distinctiveness.
