Ashanti Munir is a talented, independent soul singer from Boston, Massachusetts. Her smooth, sultry voice has won over the European soul music airways and is quickly spreading around the US. She is the proud owner of two top 10 UK Soul CDs with her debut “Balance” and her new release titled “Soul of a Woman.” Their popularity was buoyed by the singles “I’m Staying Home Tonight”, “Lovers and Friends”, “Black Pearl”, “So Smooth” and “Easy Way About U.” Ashanti was recently nominated for “Best New Artist” by the viewers of Soultracks.com for their “2010 Viewer’s Choice Awards!” She is a former winner at the “Amateur Night at the Apollo” in Harlem, NYC.
 
Ashanti Munir gained worldwide attention thanks to her debut CD titled “Balance” which was released in 2008. “Balance” peaked at #4 on the Solar Radio weekly chart for 5 weeks. Solar Radio (London) later voted “Balance” the #18 Soul CD of 2008! The single “I’m Staying Home Tonight” exploded onto the UK modern soul scene and the remix, which featured smooth jazz artist Elan Trotman, later appeared on the 2009 Soul Unsigned CD compilation titled “The Contemporary Soul Songbook vol. 1.” Ashanti is very excited about the reception to her sophomore CD “Soul of a Woman!” The first single “So Smooth” was co-written by French producer Wadz and Craig A. Eleazer. It was first released on Wadz’s CD compilation titled “So Smooth: The Funk Project” which includes two alternative versions of the track. “So Smooth” peaked at #13 on Starpoint Radio in London. Ashanti’s video for “So Smooth” is up on-line for viewing! “Soul of a Woman” was voted the #27 Soul CD of 2010 by Solar Radio. (London) It also was voted the #46 Soul CD of 2010 by Starpoint Radio’s UK Soul Chart. Ashanti will release her 2nd video for her new single “Until U” in late February 2010.
