Ah, the words and title for this song were inspired by a coworker of mine. A quiet session of solace helped me rekindle the feelings self harm gave me when I was a part of it. Nowadays, I spend most of my self-destructive power drinking and writing lyrics for songs that may never exist. But this one somehow squeezed itself out into this mortal plane. Thank you.

The Dying Art of Self Mutilation

It all started with a hundred dollar investment in an out-of-tune, olive-stained accordion I found at a recycle depot. Luckily, it is Italian and therefore I don't feel as bad when I hear the dead notes. Anyway, musically it is a rip-off/my attempt at Tom Waits' "Just Another Sucker on the Vine". Nevertheless, it's not the actual song, but a stray from it's root melody which I fumbled out one afternoon. The story is of a troubled man who can't seem to shake a peculiar feeling when daydreaming about an odd romance he's woven himself into. Enjoy, and thanks for the tolerance!

A strange thing I did last night... I was getting drunk on my porch. Not uncommon, but the oddness came from the things I did and started saying which has become this so-called track. It's really alcoholic daemons spewing out of my mouth and tapping and clapping and snapping and noise. Really, it's about alcoholism. Enjoy.
