We recorded this song (and album) at The Magic Shop in NYC at the same time in 2015 that David Bowie was secretly recording Blackstar there. I saw their calendar had a bunch of open days on it so I called up to see if we could do a session. They said "sure but it has to be on Monday because we're booked the rest of the month" which didn't make sense. When Backstar was released I realized we were probably recording during one of Bowie's off days.
