Ashes and Dust AKA Michael Paterson - Ba (Hons) Music Production..... Ashes and Dust is now a well established artist in production, advert music and sessional work. Experience ranges from DJing for 20+ years, Hardcore, Drum and Bass, House, Trance, Dubstep and Hip Hop to name a few genres. A Foundation Degree in Music Production and Technology and then a full Ba Honours from the prestigious Leeds College of Music. I am also an Apple certified Logic Trainer and system engineer.
About me.. When I was about 7 or 8, for a year I started to learn how to play the flute but it just wasn't Transformers or plastic soldiers, after much deliberation, yes, even as a youngster, I decided that I then wanted to play the trumpet, and then the guitar, and so this went on until i was about 11.
At this point my family moved into a local town and with regards to music things really went down the pan.. Then, upon leaving school, something special happened---The Rave Scene
I got into hardcore at the age of about 14 (1991) and suddenly found an instrument that i wanted to learn, the turntables. I have mixed for 20 years and during my time i have played in local clubs (Kaos, Zenexis, Bee's etc) but in the hayday of hardcore i played backroom at events such as The Que Club in Birmingham, The Monastery in Torquay as well as many more for promoters such as Dance Planet, Obsession and Dreamscape.
I am now 35 year old and would like to think that I have picked up a wealth of music knowledge from some of the best plus pure experience over those 35 years
In my time studying at Leeds College of Music and also, of course while studying for my FDA Music Technology and Production at North Devon College, I started to play the guitar and also started singing and writing lyrics, i have learnt more about music production, technology, process, theory, basically everything in the last 10 years and it has been very rewarding and stimulating!. Music is my life.. My life is music!
