ANTI-GRAVITY is an energetic electronic 6-track EP fully inspired by the WipEout racing game series. I created this project mostly as Video Game Music composition practise while also still paying tribute to the game series, as it was one of the first few games that got me deeply into electronic music. With ANTI-GRAVITY, I practise video game music structuring as well as composition & sound design.

I really enjoyed making this project, it felt more personal to me (like my NIGHTINGALE EP) - it's heavily based on my university dissertation under the name 'Project: WipEout' which focused on the study & academic point of view of video game music composition/sound design, in which I was awarded a First Class for. I structured all songs so that they loop (as they would if they were in video games) twice. This project does take a lot of inspiration from a number of different artists such as Bonobo, Tycho, Commix, Goldie, Tuff Jam, Todd Edwards, Klaus Veen, way too many to name. You should definitely play WipEout if you ever get the chance, it's really cool.

ANTI-GRAVITY FURY (or ANTI-GRAVITY 2) is the sequel/add-on from ‘ANTI-GRAVITY’ (named after WipEout HD Fury). I aimed to “expand” more on my production & 'sound design' capabilities in electronic music, following on from the 6 previous tracks I had produced for its predecessor. With FURY, I took the literal definition of that word and tried to apply it to most of these tracks, aiming for a more “aggressive” or “darker/expansive” approach to match it’s theme, creating a sort of contrast between AG & AG FURY, like light & dark (evident with both cover artwork).

I’ve had this idea for a really long time, especially since I didn’t have much time to make the first AG into a full length album like I slightly intended back in 2020, so I split the project in half, releasing what you know as ANTI-GRAVITY & giving myself some time to develop more creative ideas for the sequel. Either way, I had fun with this project & WipEout will always have a huge place in my childhood.

Just like ANTI-GRAVITY 1, these tracks took inspiration from artists such as Bonobo, Tycho, CoLD SToRAGE, Noisia, Todd Edwards, Bicep, M.I.S.T, Switchshift etc.

Fun fact: I started this song while drunk back in 2017. And the project name was originally called "Space Nut".

My last song of 2019. It was heavily inspired by racing games such as Namco's Ridge Racer, and even the newly released Need For Speed: Heat. This was really fun to make (except the bit where it continuously crashed Ableton several times lmao) and the track would be nothing without the help of Besso0 who helped record piano as well as helping me out with the structure of the song. HUGE shoutout to him!

Fun fact: the song was originally called "Skyline" but I wasn't sure on whether I wanted to name a song after my favourite car. Also, literally it's a Honda NSX in the cover art, not a Nissan Skyline.
