Last weekend I wanted to try to come up with something new on a midi-device since the last one made 1-2 years ago. I got a nice funk groove with the Clavinet, had a loose determination of finishing the piece (The final optimization took me about 8 hours!)

Year is 2100. Hip Ware C23E has just launched.
The new clothes-brand for robots, latest fashion.

Made the foundation for this back in december 2020 in hope for Winter Chip XVI having s3xmodit format since it had the previous year. Nope, not this time.
Now Spring Tracks is here, and I got the chance to finish it.
I'm pretty satisfied with the result. I feel like there still are things to fill out or change - though I think my best results comes when I one day later just make subtle improvements and changes for the better,
and I did that today, so hands off now - it's finished xD

my favourite part I'm most happy with must be the bridge.
It's quite inspired by that wacky mecha-idm-prog stuff Mandrasigma (S/O :D) has accomplished in their recent major tracks, and something with it ... is just so satisfying rhythmic meandering :D

Freedrive chiptune!
A from now on nametag i have on my carefree chiptunes
where I just try to find uncommon sound that however still is
uncomplicated. That means it will often be these 3-part looped progression tunes that are hopefully not too monotone

I have the goal of not using too much waveforms but instead 1Byte - 4Byte samples
which I think creates a more different sound than the PSG stuff.

I made some of these in 2020, two of them a WIP collab with ida (SVL) and a finished collab with lila (omniq, will see whenever that one gets released). This is one of those 2020s, that became the title-tune - and I converted it to .it from .mptm and improved it a little (added some panning, etc) just now, just for 24k tracker module category of Spring Track X on BotB, just to see how well one of these modules can do

Take off your slippers, relax and sway the rhythm.
I even went and put excactly that algorithm input in the name generator (relax and electronica/dance), and this title was the one that fit the mood of the module best.

Custom samples from hardware Roland SC-88vl (909ish drums), Casio CTK-6250 (organ+bass, strings, sequence synth, crash cymbal) along with Amiga ST-Pack (hallbrass), and a modified elwood lead by atekuro.

Thanks for the inspiration Robyn and dhg2 with your amigamod in this category :)

A MIDI-sequence for the Roland Sound Canvas SC-88 (I've been having fun with midi lately :)

Inspired by folkmusic that I grew up with, that my parents either play or listens too (that they ofc like to show me... *sigh* well it has set its mark) - that is either just traditional folkmusic or very articulated fusion-folk i.e. swedish Jaerv, finnish Frigg or etc.

I imagined playing a guitar while scribbling down this in cakewalk pro audio 9, hence why the guitar is made to be as realistic as possible (one channel uses a sound from the GS-set that is a sampled guitar "chk!", like slapping or percussion-strumming the strings, what's that technique called??)

From there all went naturally, and I think it turned out quite nice in the end, 32-voice polyphony friendly but thick sounding. There also more depth to the MIDI than just playing it with MSGS, without ruining that playback. Best of both worlds :D

I got an nice idea of just going for a huge pop-
orchestra sound sprinkled up with funk.

The first thing that came to me was the piano-riff
with the octave bass in the intro, that does an

ascending chord figure with the bass and the string-
ensemble - for that real heavy feel you get from

ballads.
That felt from the beginning as the to-go foundation
for the chorus as well, topped with a whailing lead
for more of that mighty ballad feel, but at the same
time embracing the funky feel brought by the
swingin' rhythm.
The rest is just tinkering with jazzy chords and licks,
gluing the piece together smoothly into a somewhat
radix-reminescent sound (radix is a popular musician
in the tracker scene).

This took 4 days in total to make, day 1 & 2 for
composing, day 3 for the finishing touches, a week
off, then a 4th day for a final playback check before
submission.

The track features a lot of configuration exclusive to
the GS MIDI-synthesizers such as pitch-modification
to individual drum-sounds in the same MIDI-channel
without the use of pitch-bend, detailed modification
of the internal system-effects, instrument-layers by
rerouting MIDI-channel reception, etc.

I did this pack as one of the sample-packs I have in store for the discord-server Tracker Musics Secret Sample Santa Contest. I did it in the .mod tracker-format to get it versatile for as much of the s3xmodit tracker-formats as possible. Then I also tried doing an amiga-compatible tune with it, this tune! and I think it turned out good.

I was participating s3xmoditminia 2020-A, where my first messy entry of round 1 still managed to shoot me into round 2. Though there, I dropped this funky beat on round 2 and that got me 1st place which made me win the contest :D.

This initial version was the rulebreaker I uploaded for BotB Advent Calendar 2020s 2nd door - the amigamod format. I didn't use the bitpack provided by the battle, because I didn't check for it!
I wasn't used to see majors with a bitpack (laziness probably had a finger in it as well). So I had to update it to make it battle-legal. Ranked 8th in the format-category.
