Rounding out the year on a high note, SLC-6 Music welcomes Dany Dz back to the label. Since first appearing on the progressive house scene in 2019, the Argentinean artist has notched standout releases via 3rd Avenue, Droid9 and Strangers Beats. SLC-6 Music has also been a landing spot for Dany, recording three remixes and an original since making his label debut in 2020. Now on the strength of a remix for K Loveski's 'Renzzo,' Dany returns to SLC-6 Music with 'Variance', alongside remixes from Echo Daft and Juani Ottati. Beginning with 'Recovery,' Dany aims squarely at the dance floor with warm rolling beats, hopeful pads and nostalgic melodies creating that perfect balance of groove and musicality. Meanwhile, title selection 'Variance' is equally impressive with its mysterious monochromes eventually opening up into muscular grooves, granular textures and chirping acid lines. Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Recovery' is Sri Lankan artist and Time After Time label boss Echo Daft. The Colombo resident opens up the groove for a deeper, more spacious affair, while aquatic electronics and a whimsical breakdown make for a hugely satisfying eight-minute rendition. The release concludes with Juani Ottati making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Variance'. The Argentinean artist takes inspiration from the original in crafting a nostalgic rendition, one which relies on emotive chord changes, bubbly arps and timely vocal fragments to capture your imagination.

Da Luka's roku imprint continues a strong start to the year by welcoming VegaZ SL to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Sri Lanka, Vegaz SL has established himself with a mesmerizing groovy sound that continues to fuel his country's dancefloors. On the strength of early tracks in 2021, the Galle resident would go on to compile an impressive resume across the next three calendar years, showcasing his music via Droid9, Mango Alley, Movement Recordings, Sound Avenue, WARPP and his own La Foresta imprint; while some of the world's most highly regarded DJs championed his work along the way. Now, beginning 2024 on a strong note, VegaZ SL debuts on roku with 'Not In Never Falling', alongside remixes from Paul Hamilton and Kyotto. 

The release concludes with Kyotto making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Me And I'. First emerging in 2017, Sri Lankan artist Kyotto was quickly tipped as one of his country's most promising progressive house artists. Releases via JEE Productions, Mango Alley, Sound Avenue and his own CRFT Music imprint have been recent discography highlights, while Hernan Cattaneo continues to be steadfast with support. Continuing to rise out of his country's electronic landscape, Kyotto now debuts on roku with a heady take on 'Me And I'. Focusing on a slightly darker monochrome, the Colombo resident takes aim at the dancefloor for what results in a slow-burning seven-minute journey. Gyrating rhythms and deep chugging basslines set the course for snatches of flickering percussion and shapeshifting effects. Looking to bring a surreal yet dramatic response, the main break shifts the narrative through anticipatory arps and a growling underbelly, before a contemporary build cues a stripped back drop and prophetic finale, one which an astute dancefloor will certainly appreciate.

Echo Dafts Mental is a deep dive into the hypnotic side of nu-progressive house, driven by a relentless groove and an electrifying vocal that pushes the energy into uncharted territory. The original is raw and untamed, with a unique vocal sample weaving through pulsating basslines and crisp percussion. Swirling synth textures rise and fall, creating a sense of controlled chaos—dark yet infectious, designed to send dance floors into a frenzy. … The third and final interpretation of ‘Die Like A Hero’ is supplied by Subandrio who is making his second appearance on Balkan Connection. The Sri Lankan producer first appeared on the Serbian imprint with his remix of Napalm & d-phrag’s ‘For The Love of Machines’ in June of this year. It preceded his release on Perspectives Digital where he was announced as one of the winner’s in the labels ‘Outliers’ remix competition. Subandrio is still vastly underrated in the underground, his style is quite in line with what’s currently fashionable in the progressive new school and it’s only a matter of time before he fully breaks through. There’s a slew of great material forthcoming so the remainder of 2015 and on into 2016 looks quite promising for him. Can’t say I’ve ever heard something from Subandrio which didn’t sound great and he’s turned in a superb remix of ‘Die Like A Hero’ to close the release out. His rough and rugged basslines cut though nicely here and some well placed, delicately polished melodies add a very ethereal touch. A dramatic break pushes it over the edge with a smooth exhilarating build welcoming the return of those perfectly contoured grooves. Just a massive remix from Subandrio again and a great end to the release. Don’t miss it.
