02. Cosmic Disco Cult

Mix02 is, once again, by our dear friend, wax master and graphic genius, Daniel @cosmicdiscocult , who will provide us with a monthly vinyl-only mad mix.. 👽😵‍💫

Daniel has been spinning records since the late 90s, starting with trance and moving into more classic house and techno.
The project Cosmic Disco Cult was a result of getting bored of the state of techno and house at that time.. He asked himself,
what was is that he fell in love with all those years ago? What was the source? It was the deep baselines and melodies of psytrance, the chanting voices and all the trippy stuff.
His next question was, what are the roots of trance? He traced it to the north Italian cosmic scene, 1980. The Italian cosmic style was a blend of African music, German and British electronica, some Italo disco, and obscure disco, often played at wrong bpm.

@cosmicdiscocult is a new interpretation and homage to that scene, blending many different genres, playing in the wrong tempo and bpm, to create a driving hypnotic trance like vibe. Pure psychonaut business 🚀

After a few months of hiatus, Phase 4 of the Reptilian Mixes is coming back in full glory with the 11th installment. In the director seat this time you’ll find Ok Goms, someone very dear to our hearts, as per tradition with the series yes, but that doesn’t make it less special.

Countess of the high castle dominating the street of silver stones, Ok Goms is a Kreuzkölln gem in its purest form, with exquisite taste, passionate about anything esoteric and underground, but with a disarming sincerity and charm that cannot leave one indifferent. 

She digs into the most unorthodox corners of dance music to find some of the most exciting, pure, joyful, and overall emotional tech house, proggy, minimal techno you can dream of. Her music is dead serious but playful, always deep but never dull, and it's for sure going to take you places. 

The mix is classy, filled with grace, and carrying a lot of emotions, not the easiest to convey but maybe the most grappling ones, ones that stay with you for a while.

London and Stockholm collide in an explosion of mysterious psychedelia. Megababes welcomes Kajsa Villius to the trance sphere, collaborating across 890 Miles with label boss Kitsta.

Kajsa Villius and Kitsta’s ‘KK1’ opens the EP on with a hard-hitting psy kick and a pulsing bass down low. Cut-up, synth-like vocal samples wriggle above among its stripped-back percussion before ‘KK2’
brings in mysterious melodies, wonky vocals and hypnotic bass, culminating in a whirlpool of psychedelic acid elements.

Kitsta’s solo track ‘Karma Baby’ follows up their collective offerings with racy low-end and earworm melodies before breaking down slow-mo style for the finish. Closing out the EP, Villius delivers ‘K Effect’, a
true ode to modern psytrance-infused house music with tripped-out high-end and layers of driving rhythm and bass.

The ‘890 Miles’ EP by Kitsta and Kajsa Villius follows up the ‘Get Ready’ two-tracker released by Balamii and Voices Radio resident Kitsta last year. This next entry on the newly formed label welcomes Stockholm artist Kajsa, a DJ and producer on the radar of renowned international DJs like D. Tiffany and Zeynep, with her and Kitsta’s ‘890 Miles’ EP already winning the support of Aiden Francis, Tãn and Remotif.
