XO: Music To... Listen To Whilst Wired

Here we are with another edition of the best damn mix series going on right now! Ok ok, we don’t usually brag about our own projects but we could not be more proud of the Forgotten Tresures series. Not only do we have a killer lineup of artists (Ta-Ku, Zed Bias, Paul Nice, Marc Mac and others) but the concept is wonderful too. We simply ask artists to make a mix based on their influences and roots.

This one comes OPOLOPO, amazing musician/producer/dj/wizard from Stockholm, Sweden. He is the man behind two of the hottest remixes these past few years : Gregory Porter’s “1960″ and Omar’s “Treat You”, that in addition to a ton of stellar work he released on great labels like Tokyo Dawn, Especial and Local Talk.

from @Opolopo: “Here’s my mix. It’s all stuff I listened to growing up. It’s a small selection of the music that in one way or another influenced me and shaped my musical personality. Mostly on the jazzy tip for this mix as I was a Jazz Funk and Fusion head thanks to my dad. I wasn’t really into vocals as a teenager so it’s all instrumentals as well. The newest track is from 1984. ;-)”

"This mix is basically a collection of nostalgia influenced pieces, weightless productions and scores that have stuck with me. I've always thought a lot of the music used in games is very underrated in terms of their depth and ideas and doing this mix gave me the opportunity to include some of my favourites. One in particular is a game called "Tyrian" - a space-shooter filled with mad colours and beams and has this weird tragic storyline. I based the premise of the mix behind this - its about being lost in space but still feeling content and somewhat close to home. Hope you enjoy it." Dark0
