SLEEP PARTY PEOPLE - In Another World

Chapter http://joinchapter.com has teamed up with Rayna deNiord of San Francisco's artist platform, Modyfier http://modyfier.wordpress.com to launch Chapter's new music series, COMPOSITION_DISORDER. Based upon the blending of disciplines of similar mind and direction coming together as an inspiration of sorts, COMPOSITION_DISORDER features the artist's own uniquely conjured interpretations of dark, distorted but emotionally powerful ambient sound. By creating irregularity in compositional spaces the perspective of scale and the listener's place is shifted.

The first of the music series, Shadows Fall, is provided by The Sight Below http://ghostly.com/artists/the-sight-below, an alias of Rafael Anton Irisarri http://irisarri.org. He is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist, curator, producer and interdisciplinary artist based out of Seattle. The music of The Sight Below conjures half-remembered dreams and soft-focus sentiments with elegiac beauty; his compositions are emotionally spacious and mesmerizing ambient soundscapes intertwined with subtle pulsations. As a producer, he’s had remixes commissioned by The Naked And Famous, School of Seven Bells, and Pantha Du Prince. His original recorded works are widely published in over a dozen labels scattered across the globe, most notably Ghostly International (USA), Morr Music (DE), Touch (UK), and Room40 (AU). 

“Shadows Fall” was inspired by Chapter's own take on the potency of minimalism.  Interweaving layers of melancholic guitars and raw bass tones to ritualistic percussions, it focuses on the power of early industrial and post-punk aesthetics, amplifying and echoing Chapter’s own design inspiration.

I think this track has a nice flow to it now, some dynamics it was lacking. I fixed/eqed/omitted some of the noises to make everything fit together better. 

LEVIATHAN (v3, final)

I feel fortunate to have been able to record over an hour of unbroken natural sound in the Olympic National Forest at the Snider-Jackson trail head. Starting during Civil Twilight, sun rises in this recording around the 30 minute mark, although the Thrushes were awake and active long before then. Robins, Varied Thrushes, Flycatchers, woodpeckers, squirrels, Pacific Wrens, and more fill these moss-covered woods to the background wash of the Calawah River.

Sunrise was at 5:42 this morning, with the first almost-audible human-related sounds of very distant vehicles starting nearly an hour after that.

It's difficult to comprehend the sound of the wilderness we are losing. Even here, deep in the mountainous, moss-covered trees of the Olympic National Forest on the border of the Olympic National Park, it's only by creeping out in the early hours of the morning that we can hear long stretches of natural sound unbroken by human-created noises. With the ever-encroaching settlements of humankind, how much longer will it be before even that is lost?
