A DREAM, EXTRACTED - music from the short film

ASPHALT SERENADE is a movie and soundtrack project wherein a film with a loose narrative is created and written using the vusicianship process - the interplay of music, sound and moving image to write the story.

Carlos Grasso is the founder, main proprietor and vusician of ASPHALT SERENADE working with a cast of talented friends and artists. In performances the film is edited and scored live as a copy of the original. Each show is different, each film and soundtrack unique as an interpretation of the original film and score.

The first project "Elegy Highway tells the story of Jimmy the Boy Scout on a bus trip to Washington, D.C. and the America he sees through the bug-stained windows. An ode to the road, "Elegy Highway" incorporates original footage and field recordings as well as found footage, found dialog and video samples. The soundtrack is produced by Grammy-winning producer, Dennis Herring. James Slay guested as co-composer. Guest musicians include The Section Quartet, David Lovering of The Pixies, Grant-Lee-Phillips, Dennis Herring and Dylan Howe.
