More Than Your Words

 Created within the context of Moi, Singe, a music-theatre work by composer Januibe Tejera, commissioned and performed by Hanatsu Miroir and Accroche Note (festival musica, Strasbourg, 2017) , Et la conséquence fût… is a standalone acousmatic scene based on Franz Kafka’s A Report to an Academy. In this story, a humanized ape recounts his process of becoming “civilized” for the benefit of an academic audience.
This piece, composed from recorded materials and synthetic sounds, investigates the porous boundary between mimic and metamorphosis. The electronic part—conceived, realized, and performed by Dionysios Papanikolaou—functions both as sonic landscape and inner monologue, navigating a fragile space between adaptation and loss.
Here, speech is stripped of grammar, memory becomes texture. The piece seeks not to narrate but to inhabit a becoming: of voice, of body, of obedience. The electroacoustic space breathes with mimicry, resistance, and perhaps, resignation.
Performed without a body, but not without a pulse.
