Kieran Helmore aka Kizzbanga, or simply HELMORE hails from Sydney, Australia by way of London, England.Raised a metalhead Kieran was the lead singer for Sydney Death Metal outfit Anno Domini, but after getting deep into the Dubstep sounds of DMZ, Deep Medi, Dub Police, Swamp 81, Night Slugs, Hessle Audio and subsequently the worlds of Grime, Techno, Jungle, Drum + Bass, UK Garage and everything that stems from these immense worlds of music he decided to immigrate to the UK to follow in the footsteps of his biggest musical inspiration - the irreplaceable Mary Anne Hobbs.With a background in radio broadcasting he has worked at Rinse FM alongside Yasmin, Ablegimmiegroove, Josey Rebelle before going through through a slew of Sales jobs and finally settling into Cyber Security to fund all of his musical adventures.HELMORE's sound is firmly rooted in UK bass culture and definitely leans on the heavier more experimental side of Bass and Techno with nods to the OGs of Dubstep while incorporating the tastiest Footwork, Jungle and Garage that he can find!Having only been producing for the last 4 months his first ever track - a collaboration with Nu Kvlture label boss Noizy Wilson - is featured on the most recent Nu Kvlture compilation VOL2."This mix is really special to me. There’s an over-arching air of introspection to the five tracks assembled here, as LEA’s signature bass ructions and jagged, roughly-hewn drums offset with a widescreen line in melancholia.

Taken from our most popular EP of 2021, Swedish producer Lazarus Moment’s “Never Return” (SERA009) quickly became a standout track among listeners in our community. Inspired by the future garage pioneers that came before us, we sought out someone who shared those same influences - this made it easy to invite Boston-based artist ROBY. His remix keeps the track’s core qualities intact: galloping drums, emotive pads, and a persistent low-end layered beneath its atmosphere. He personalizes the rework by adding his own recorded vocals to it, which is a first in the Satellite Era catalog.

Earlier this year, frequent label collaborator Agent O delivered one of the most anticipated releases in our short history. Reaching faraway places amidst the internet music sphere, the project made its way back home to Chicago and into Ricky Digital’s workstation. The mysterious producer takes “That’s Enough Of That” (SERA012) and turns it into an over the top track well-equipped for a lively, peak-hour DJ set. Already heavy on the bassline and drum work, the remix takes a less serious approach by throwing in humorous vocals and quacking duck samples, all while maintaining its original aggression. The short-spanned but fun song leaves us with one very important question: who is Ricky Digital?

Our last visit to the Distant Arrays series brought us deep into the realm of jungle and drum ‘n’ bass. Upon arrival, we welcomed Zuni back for a track called “Growth” (SERA010) that pushed the envelope of his minimalist style. Shortly after its release, it caught the attention of Los Angeles-based artist RamonPang, who was very eager to take on its remix duties. Focused on a much longer progression than the original, he effortlessly introduces new elements throughout the track’s 9-minute duration. The repetition works as intended - it maintains the energy while bringing excitement each time a fresh percussive sound or synth enters the space.

Our label’s most recent release came from Turkish producer Fosil, a rising start in Istanbul’s underground scene. Packed with serious dancefloor weaponry, “Anti-You” (SERA013) took a more experimental approach than the rest, showcasing frantic drums and a clear nod to breakcore influences. With a desire to keep its eeriness unscathed, we reached out to the inimitable Sectra to fulfill the prophecy. A longtime friend and huge inspiration of ours, he turns the track into a slowed, spaced out rework that boasts gritty textures and a poisoned groove. His subtle yet effective use of sampling leaves remnants of the original on a harrowing trail, paving the way for a proper ending to this project.

Assassin Bug @ Bloom Festival 2022

My mix for Ani Klang's 'Klanxiety Attack', originally aired on Reform Radio (Manchester) on 16th November 2022.

A collection of genres spanning dancehall, jersey club, grime, electro, baile funk, bass and hard club.

We’re very happy to introduce @assassin-bug who takes the spotlight for our next episode in the Heatwave Headquarters series. 

Assassin Bug produces and spins a range of obscure, bass-heavy styles ranging from grime to jungle, dubstep to footwork, intertwined with moments of sparkly melodic madness. With the ability to seamlessly blend a multitude of underground sounds, experimental beats, ethereal dreamscapes, and synthetic sound design, she guides the room on a journey throughout her fast-paced, driven, dark yet uplifting sets. A producer and multi-instrumentalist first, Assassin Bug is driven by the belief that sound, music, and dance are all essential to human nature and expression.

Heatwave Headquarters aims to highlight artists who dabble in both production and DJing and of course, who we admire. Assassin Bug has been on our radar for a minute so it’s a pleasure to work with her and bring to our audience some of her amazing talent. As a musician first, she has a knack for musical quality which we think shines through all her work. She’s got an awesome project which is sure to become a fantastic space for unique music - keep your eyes on her socials to be in the loop and catch the content when it comes. 

More on that, she'll be releasing her first bunch of EPs before the end of the year as well as a few singles under the collective name 'Bean Sí', and perhaps some other independent labels as well. “If you don't see any releases from me before the end of the year, I formally give you permission to get in touch with me and give me grief for slacking” - Assasin Bug.
