The members of the group take their names from movie monsters from Toho's Godzilla movies. Their first full length album, Escape from Monsta Island! was released in 2003 by Metal Face Records. Most M.I.C. (Monsta Island Czars) tracks are produced by King Caesar (aka X-Ray) or King Geedorah (aka MF DOOM) (Both of whom are absent from the MF Grimm American Hunger album. Although MF DOOM was said to have been feuding with M.I.C. after his verse in "El Chupa Nibre" calling M.I.C "Midgets into Crunk" (which was replied to on MF Grimm's diss track "Book Of Daniel"), Grimm and DOOM have repeatedly stated in interviews and blog postings that there is no bad blood between DOOM or any M.I.C. members. Despite this, DOOM is no longer considered an active member of M.I.C; and it appears doubtful that he will produce any future tracks.)
