The first Assemble Music release in 2022 comes from a super talented and young Portuguese producer. Salbany is known in the Portuguese circuit for his mind-blowing live act using hardware only. Footprint (Part I) is the first part of 2 ep´s that brings some of the tracks from those live sessions where he explores techno as it should be. 4 Old school Detroit feeling tracks with his own touch. 1- St. Joseph - The Good Shit

Patrick Specke exemplifies the current wave of DJs playing intelligent and quirky dance music, expertly stitching together elements from across the spectrum of contemporary electronics into one refined whole.  The only difference is that he’s been doing it for years, so while the rest of the scene has been slowly waking up to a world beyond ‘fine minimal house’, Patrick has long seen the potential in bringing together disparate elements to surprise and educate the dancefloor.  Pleasure comes into it too, of course, and you only have to look at dancers in his hometown in Düsseldorf and at regular haunts in Berlin and London to see how much his dedication to digging and sharing is appreciated.  Many claim this depth of knowledge and skill but few actually have it.  Patrick Specke has it in spades.

The latest Assembling mix comes from St Joseph, a stalwart of the Assemble family and purveyor of fine, dusty house, a genre that gets a good airing on this tour of his record shelves. With a sampler’s ear for the timbres that link the old with the new, David Joseph takes Detroit as his base, from deep motor city house through the cosmic stasis of classic Jeff Mills and out the other side into the sonorous tones of Gil Scott-Heron on Moodymann’s ’Amerika’. A journey into a musical lineage and a city whose influence is felt to this day – let St Joseph be your guide.

Assembling Radio By St. Joseph

ALTITUDE - Integration EP (AS-16):
The first new release in 15 years for Matt Thibideau under the Altitude name and it's as if he never left.  Just like his legendary 1998-2001 output on Blue Recordings, each of these tracks is a deep and dubby analog groove to get utterly lost in.  'Integration' could be a new addition to Maurizio's classic M series, while 'Harmonic lays the reverb on even thicker over a dark pulsing bass.  'Stabilizer' provides a techier counterpoint more aligned with the deep and driving loops of Bluespirit or Driftwood.  It's a pleasure to have Altitude back on vinyl in such fine form.

We are really proud to present the next guest on our radio sessions, the one and only Altitude aka Matt Thibideau with an exclusive and very rare live session!!
Matt Thibideau's love of analog synthesis runs deep, making industrial sounds with his first machines in 1990 followed by a headlong dive into the late-90s Toronto techno scene. As well as contributing to labels run by the likes of Daniel Lui (Chair), Mike Shannon (Cynosure), Matt established his now-legendary imprint Blue Recordings, which saw a run of 9 releases including the exemplary Polarized and Further EPs from his Altitude moniker. In the early 2000s he was also signed to Cologne label Sub Static under the alias Coordinates. Matt has performed his all-analog live set around the world, as well as working with his brother Mark and vocalist Dawn Lewis on the Repair project, dedicated to the broken but not forgotten synths lying around his studio.

Stick on the A-side of Lerosa’s first release on Lisbon’s Assemble Music and you’ll be transported back to the 90s heyday of Clear, Phono and Environ: HARKONNEN echoes the bubbly arpeggios and frenetic percussion of vintage Morgan Geist, while SONG FOR D has that laid-back Herbert swagger, albeit with a classic Lerosa sound palette.  In fact, you can reference-spot all you will, but listen to the A-side and you’ll find the happy-sad chords and deft arrangements at play in both ALICE and CARER are 100-proof Lerosa.  So put the history books down and drift off, without quite knowing whether it’s the lazy afternoon before the party or the hazy morning after, as the sun filters softly through the blinds.
