Having traveled the world as a chef on transport ships, Deke returned home to set up his diner. Working out of a 40ft shipping container on the side of a roundabout in Dublin’s Ringsend he has grown a loyal following comprised mostly of dock workers and truckers from across the country. Deke’s no frills approach to cooking is mirrored by that of his approach to life. Over 14 years in the Diner he has seen a lot of changes to his city, some of which pose a threat to his communities way of life.

The Pacific Northwest is one of the worlds richest linguistic hot spots. A mysterious landscape steeped in Indigenous mythology and littered with ancient temperate rainforest. I used a mix of field recordings to try bring you there, in some way, even just for a moment. Tim Lilburn is a poet and academic who lives on Vancouver Island. I came across his story when on my own journey to better understand my place here and how as time passes, I feel increasingly distant from it.
