Our latest SORRYMIX comes via one of of favorite figures in the American underground Mx. Blaire (@mxblaire). Blaire is a wealth of passion, enthusiasm, and killer tracks. A real cornerstone of the Boston scene and beyond - Blaire is a resident of both Boston’s queer rave collective Boudoir and the breaks-focused Breakfast Collective. SORRYMIX38 finds them performing at Chicago's Smart Bar for the first time for mutual friend Club Chow's monthly party Club Gauche on Thursday August 8th, 2024. Mixed with 2 turntables, 2 CDJs, a mixer, and plenty of scratch records!

This set was incredibly special for me as it was my first time playing in the Midwest - the birthplace of so much music I hold near and dear. I wanted to come into this set with high energy that paced the dancers and a sense of forward motion that would compel them to stay until the last song played. The crowd's energy & reception was unparalleled with people hoopin n hollerin' at every turn. I spent the summer upping my scratch n drop game so to see that hard work pay off during the set felt like a big "fuck yeah!" I felt really free to explore the freakier side of my record bag for this set and I'm thrilled with how it all came out.

SORRYMIX38: Mx. Blaire - Live At Smart Bar

Legendary dub techno artist Paul St. Hilaire (AKA Tikiman) announces new collaborative album, marking 10 years of Kynant Records. 

Building on the success of Paul St. Hilaire’s landmark solo album for Kynant in 2023, w/ The Producers switches up the formula to pair St. Hilaire with a different producer on each track. Referencing fellow dub techno pioneers Mark Ernestus & Moritz von Oswald’s acclaimed album w/ The Artists as Rhythm & Sound, St. Hilaire flips the concept to feature as the lone vocalist.

Over the album’s nine tracks, St. Hilaire offers a range of conscious song-writing and headtop musings, such as the spoken-word dread of “What’s This” or the sparse call-to-action of “Send Them On”. w/ The Producers is yet another essential record in St. Hilaire’s unmatched discography.

The album marks 10 years of Kynant Records, with label owner Richard Akingbehin curating an eclectic but sonically connected group of producers. These include luminaries such as Digital Mystikz boss and dubstep trailblazer Mala, or the elusive Chain Reaction artist Shinichi Atobe. They sit alongside some of the most exciting names in recent electronic music - Batu, Gavsborg, Azu Tiwaline, Priori, Cousin, Russell E.L. Butler, Aurora Halal and DJ G - all of whom bring different elements of dub techno into their productions.

w/ The Producers finds Kynant Records bridging the original voice of dub techno with the genre’s new wave. It’s a statement of intent from the label, which began 10 years ago with deep, hypnotic techno and has veered gradually towards more dubwise sounds.

Kicking off our Assembly Mix Series ahead of our inaugural event on 28th November at Meraki, Liverpool we’re excited to introduce the first of our four residents: Andy Morrison, aka The Cyclist, with a genre-blending journey through house, garage, breaks, bass and techno.

An Irish, UK-based producer and DJ known for his analogue, psychedelic club sound, @thecyclistbuzludzha draws from a huge range of influences; Krautrock, 60s psychedelia, early Chicago house, techno, jungle and dub. With his signature use of extreme tape distortion, he’s carved out some of the most visceral yet cerebral dancefloor music of the past decade, releasing on iconic labels including Stones Throw, Leaving Records, 100% Silk, Hypercolour, and All City Records.

Fresh off the release of his vinyl-only 12" Sublimity (already selling out in shops worldwide) and just back from his first Paris gig, he brings us an eclectic and immersive start to the series.

Assembly Mix 001 - The Cyclist

We’re happy to announce “Planetary Shift” by our friend O-Wells with an additional
remix by Bangkok's finest Sarayu from More Rice. An EP that combines friendship and is a
long overdue Ozelot-cosmos release.
After we heard “Planetary Shift” a while ago for the first time, we kept insisting on releasing
it- Now we’re happily presenting it to you in the form of a 4 track EP.
The record orbits around O-Wells’ signature style: dub-inflected drums, slithering synth lines,
and percussive patterns that never sit still. There’s a sleek futurism to these tracks, but they
feel worn-in, like spacecraft that have already charted the edges of known space. Across the
EP, O-Wells embraces tension and release—rolling low-end pressure that swells, only to
dissolve into weightless melodic fragments. The result is music that feels in constant flux,
forever shifting through sonic terrain without losing its pulse.
Anchoring the EP is a remix from Sarayu, a key voice from Southeast Asia’s flourishing
electronic scene. Known for threading traditional rhythmic sensibilities into contemporary
club frameworks, Sarayu flips O-Wells' abstract groove into something tactile and urgent. His
version turns the track inside out—primal percussion and humid atmospheres pushing the
original’s spacious minimalism toward a more grounded, earthy palette. It’s a vital rework
that expands the release’s global reach, bridging Frankfurt and Bangkok through the shared
language of rhythm and friendship.
