Unissued Series Part 2 consists of 3 tracks with varying vibes and atmospheres, united by their distinct yet driving low ends.

Often times when preparing for a mix or club night I put a lot of focus on the low ends of tracks, as I see it as the prime mover of ones body. The natural progression of these various low end forces is something I like to pay particular attention to, especially in a club environment. The mid and high end characteristic of tracks is what lets me disconnect on a mental level. Ranging from repetitiveness madness to emotional atmospheres, these 3 tracks have the ability to draw you in physically while letting go mentally.

DEAD CERT. Records is a label linked to the well known website deathtechno.com ran by Jack! Who? in the UK. A diverse palette has seen the previous releases feature music from artists including Audio Injection / Truncate, Paul Mac, TWR72, Echoplex, and Petter B to name but a few.

Following his spectacular Black Mail XIII collaboration called "Obelisk", Stephan Krus returns with a creative and diverse solo EP. Proving his production quality once again, he also has appearances on labels like Decoy, Naked Lunch, and SK Black.

"Cycloid" begins with a sense of drama and deep cerebral aesthetic, before the pulsing, hypnotic acid bursts through and it really picks up power and attitude.

Track two "Horopter" has an altogether straight and rolling groove of delayed sounds and a cavernous feel. Later getting into a riff of abstract metallic tones, this has a juxtaposition of serious vibe and jovial mood making it a choice DJ weapon.

Third on offer is "Catenary" that completely switches up the style, bringing a whole new freshness to the fray. Combining angular licks and rough industrial textures, it's also laced with a gritty and dirty analogue funk.

To close the EP is "Isochrone" that skilfully harnesses a stuttering melody and plucking sonics with masterful precision. Brooding and tough, additional layers of sonic grunge raise it to intense heights of mind-twisting goodness.

This second Various Artists release on the label once again brings together some talented artists from around the globe. With a focus on strong, timeless sounds, there is a common thread flowing through the productions of the five artists being showcased. 

French artist Blenk opens the package with ‘Spell’, a pounding offbeat piece that is guaranteed to stand out in any techno set. With precise sound design, a devastating low-end and uncanny vocal-like stabs, it is both unique and functional. The Blenk sound is carving a path of its own! Following this is William Arist’s ‘Like Everybody Wants Now’. The Uruguayan artist has been in the game for some time, and his production experience is on full display here. Much like the A1, this track is focussed with its sound design, but equally functional for DJ sets. Taking things back to four-to-the-floor, this A2 is an essential for the peak-time dance-floor given its driving energy and heavy beats. 

The B-Side opens with ‘Mantis’, a loopy DJ tool by UK producer Yant. It combines hypnotic elements with classic drum rhythms in an arrangement that carefully ebbs and flows - making it suitable both as a standalone piece or layered within a mix. The B2 takes things in a slightly different direction as American artist Ari Atai showcases his Detroit-influenced cut ‘Signal Phase’. With a foundation of analog drums and bleepy synths, the track builds with careful sound manipulations and closes out the release perfectly with its moody feel. 

The digital bonus comes by way of India’s Dotdat. ‘Polyslave’ is a full force production that was made with one clear purpose: to do damage on the dancefloor. With minimal elements, it’s some powerful drum programming that carries the arrangement whilst subtle synth parts add a bit of extra spice to the production.
