Hugsanasund (1st demo, recorded at Félagsheimilið in Flateyri)

The word "mundilfari" means "father of moon and sun". I wrote the lyrics sitting alone in a car on the road leading to Ingjaldssandur, one of the most isolated places in Iceland.
During the time Mundilfari was written, I was absolutely blinded by my abusive then-boyfriend's gaslighting. In the song I try to make amends for his emotional abuse towards me by both stating that everything that went wrong in our relationship was my fault, and glorifying him at the same time.

I recorded this demo on February 2019 on the kitchen floor at my school. That day, the weather was absolutely crazy. You can hear the strong and heavy Icelandic winter wind in the background.
Even though Sykurbað is an "I'll do anything for you, 'cause I'm so madly in love with you" kind of song, the first spark of an idea for the song isn't romantic at all.
The idea for the song came to me after carrying my then-boyfriend, who was black-out drunk, home from a þorrablót. So yeah...... that's not so romantic. But still, this song is very close to my heart and will always be.

Sykurbað (2nd demo, recorded on Lýðflat's kitchen floor)

I wrote Marblettir (e. Bruises) in May 2019. In this song, I say goodbye to this one particular part of my life. In the middle of the song, you can hear my then-boyfriend storming into the room, interrupting my recording session. I wasn't so happy with that, so I snapped at him "I'm recording!" before him leaving the room right away.

I wrote the lyrics looking out of the window at school, zoning out during a class. There was a snowstorm outside - I find snowstorms strangely compelling. Winter in Iceland is very long. I wrote Sjaldséður gestur in February 2019 (approx. the 6th month of winter) and I was tired of the darkness, the constant wind and snow. I was sad. Some people call this feeling "the february blues".

Hrásykurbað is a collection of demos from my debut album, Sykurbað. It contains five songs, two of them which did not make it to the album.

All the demos were recorded at Flateyri, a small town in the Westfjords of Iceland, in January - July 2019.

Hugsanasund was recorded at Félagsheimilið.
Marblettir (09:34), Mundilfari (00:52) and Sjaldséður gestur (13:10) were recorded at Grundarstígur 18 and Sykurbað was recorded at Lýðháskólinn.

The cassette was released in 20 signed and hand-painted copies on Sykurbað's one year anniversary in October 2020.
