In the Fall of 2008, Jesse Moore and Nathan Francis began playing music together, with some of those songs surviving to be part of their debut release "The Fabric Crown." Jesse describes the concept of "The Fabric Crown" as "best interpreted by the listener." It was a concept that developed over time, some of the lyrics changing right up until they were recorded. "The Fabric Crown" explores the raw emotion of loss, rejection, and recovery from everyday trauma magnified through the lens of anxiety and mental instability.

A Stagnant Motion has been playing steady shows throughout central WA since October 2011, including shows at The Hop in Spokane; Rockin Hair in Wenatchee; and Rays Golden Lion in Richland. ASM is a dynamic live band that can work small crowds, technical difficulties, and cat-calls from male crowd-members into a memorable set.

"The Fabric Crown" songs were largely excluded from previous live sets due to the complexity of the songs and the time restraints of past lineups. This provoked singer, Jesse, to take up the bass again and pull in a host of guest musicians to contribute to the EP. Including drummer, Dane Gifford; saxophonist, Zack Francis, of Leftover Soul; percussionist, Weston Fink, of The Finns; vocalist, Michael Gustafson, of The Finns; guitarist, Vic Byrne, of Fallen Regiment and Elephant Gun Riot; and vocalist, Lindsay Francis, of Cliffs of Fall.
