This is a song I managed to bash together whilst waiting for people to talk to me over IRC today. I was imagining that I was on a TV show with a challenge to write a tune in a certain time frame. I'd have failed the challenge for not finishing it in time, but I love how this song has come together. I spent a long time creating about 7 different hats. The bassline sounds funky and the gated pad really adds to it.

This particular song was inspired by the phrase 'Caffeine Commando', which I thought was pretty neat. Revisited one of my earlier basslines for this one initially, built up from there. The guitar is me jamming over a few bars and cleaned up afterwards. I love how steel-string guitars sound.

For the title Spéire Shoibhán, I got some words together until I found something that I felt fit the song. "Jane's Sky" is what I liked the best, and "Spéire Shoibhán" is the translation of that into the Irish language.

This is the sort of song that I find great for road trips, concentrating, and so on. Very much about the evolution of patterns over time, particularly both arpeggios that play through most of the song, and the harmonies that they generate. 

The sausage waveform is because the bassline and drums play through almost the entire length of the tune, and they're fairly prominent. This track isn't about those though, it's about the progressive evolution of patterns.

The name Dóigh Réalta means Star Burn in Irish. The bass line reminds me a lot of Flight of the Navigator for some reason.

I wrote this song initially as a potential for use in a computer game, and although the game guys decided not to use this particular song, they are using a few of my other tracks. Some of them you can listen to (and download) here on SoundCloud.

The grand nature of this song is for its intended use initially as a large city BGM. It's now being used as the theme for a pnp game I've been developing for the last couple of years. Because why the hell not? =D

I wondered what an ambient-ish soundscape would soundlike with some percussion. I think it sounds pretty good! Name and sound inspired somewhat by a region in the novel I'm writing at the moment: the Aldershroud.

Sometimes just messing around will yield some awesome results. This is the 6th attempt I made with some percussion and a bassline that I created, coming together over the last few days. We can blame the Serum VST for how this sounds, and I am very happy with how it's turned out.

So I had a session with my good chum @Phalanx1 a couple of days ago, bashing out some beats and fiddling with levels. I decided that I would throw some pads on a backing off some sort and see where it went, and here we are. Pretty chuffed with how this sounds actually.

There's not really much of a story behind this song: Every so often I'm goofing about in the studio and things just fall into place quite well! I'm particularly happy with the TB-303 acid inspired synth I threw together in Wasp XT that pretty much forms the backing for most of the song. 

The name is mega-inspired though. I'm just waiting for someone to drop it into their set and realize the pun :3

So I have been listening to a lot of ambient and chill out stuff at work recently. Seeing how well the genre translates to my atmo pad and suspended chords that just seem to happen. Not really pushing the envelope too much with the instruments, but it's nice to attempt something different. I think my next track will be even more progressive and ambient - something that sounds more stellar. Watch this space!

Asteconn - Paragram [la90]

Maedhbh (also meḋḃ, madhbh, meadhbh and a few other spellings) is the Queen of Connacht in the Ulster cycle. No real story behind this song, I seem to recall that it just fell into place quite nicely. I've been meaning to touch up this song for a while now, and here's the slightly updated version with a few extra bits of percussion, new kick drum, and FX. 

Because I'm a huge nerd, it's named after one of my ships in Star Trek Online. The name's Irish and is pronounced 'Maeve'.

I've been really abusing those atmo pads in this song. For the glory of good music! For the record, I /really/ love the key change to major on the 3rd quarter of the main melody.

Really rinsing the atmo pad for all it's worth here too! I think adding the pad and strings has given the song a whole new dimension from the piano solo before.

I started writing this song a few years ago, just using the sounds on the blank canvas of silence. I had a draft up here a long time, but recently had the flash of inspiration I needed to put together a finished piece from the palette I'd built up.

Given the current crackdown on unlicensed music use by Twitch Streamers, I thought I'd start writing some tunes that can be used for streams. Here's the first. The song name is Irish, meaning 'Streams', and is pronounced 'Sru-hanna'.

The title means 'Peaceful Place' in Irish. Pronounced roughly "Awtch Soo-uv-nyukh" (aːtʲ sˠuəvʲnʲəx for the precise pronunciation). 

I wrote this song to listen to whilst driving, especially down winding B-roads. I was particularly inspired by some of the individual sounds on some of the older Euphoria mixes. I love how pre-2000 this song sounds, especially the formant arpeggio and the acid-y 303-ish synth.
