Drew Miller makes a welcomed return to the label after a creative hiatus.

Drew has been a constant for us. Joining the label in those fledgling days of 2018, his interesting take on the deeper melodic side of house has been a wonderful addition to our back catalogue. Never more at peace than when he’s making music, it’s been a tough few years away from the relative limelight of releasing music, so we are delighted to have him back.

Across four exceptional deep house tracks, taken from his new live show, Drew showcases a lifetime of passionate obsession with dance music that beautifully catalogues his personal artistic development. The Eternal Optimist personified.

Our resident starving artist, Ucleden makes a triumphant return with two stylish originals and remix support from Lexicon Avenue and Benwaa. 

It’s been a little while since we’ve had original music from Ucleden, but we’ve featured him often. Not surprising really, he’s been pushing his silky smooth vibes across some great labels such as Ricky Ryan’s Electronic Groove, and Mike Koglin and Mood Freak’s YOMO records to name a few. 

Opening with ‘Oxygen’ it’s all systems go. Bass heavy and driving, the low end fury powers this one for those pre-peak moments to get the floor focused. Earworm arps hypnotise at will. ‘The Sea Was Empty’ digs deeper. Classically structured and warmly familiar, this is progressive house from an artist at the peak of his talents. 

On remix duties, prog legend Lexicon Avenue reimagines ‘Oxygen’ with delicate pads and a meaty reese bass midsection. Stripped back for maximum carnage, this is one for the big occasions. Inspired by ‘The Sea Was Empty’ Benwaa has turned in two different remixes. Aesthetic 1 vibes along paying homage to the originals energy and groove with a more electronic edge.

Ucleden - Oxygen (Lexicon Avenue Remix)

We start 2024 with a bang! A huge Ryan McCormack original with remix support from dance music royalty, Circulation. 

Signed to a wide spectrum of labels including onedotsixthree, Einmusika and Krafted, his stand out remix for Plastic City (Watchman - Cut The Midrange) really put him on the radar of the scene and lead to a collaboration project with Dutch supremo C-Jay. A DJ at heart, he grew up listening to his brothers CD collection sparking a lifelong love for the music. 

Originally a duo, Circulation pioneered the early 00s tech house sound, which built on the melodics of deep Detroitian beats. Known for their disco-edged colours series, they quickly found themselves signed to Defected, React, Hooj Choons and more headlining events around the world. Now after a long hiatus, two become one but the vibe remains just as life-affirming. 

In original form, ‘Maxim’ is a warm chugging vibe for the early floors. Floaty synths and weird vox keep it wonky as the arps give drive and direction. On the remix, Circulation takes it even more aquatic and hypnotising.

Terje Saether joins the family with two incendiary originals. Remix support comes from label favourite Silinder and boss man Real Gone Kid.

Born in the land of the polar bear and aquavit, Terje Saether loves a dark beat. Inspired by ’80s musical firebrands such as The Cure and Pet Shop Boys, his love of the electronic has seen him release with a slew of high profile imprints including Hope Recordings, Darkroom Dubs and Bedrock.

Opening with ‘Cold Drop’ those dark grooves are very apparent. Deep and hypnotic, it gets under your skin quickly as all good earworms do. For his remix, RGK focuses on the organics to construct a dirty peak time breaks monster.

Next up, ‘Undertow’ works its magic. Again deeply satisfying without ever losing its cool, this will work on the cooler floors perfectly. Irish supremo, Silinder reimagines the original motifs in his immutable style, adding a fresh polish.

Ben Summers joins the family with two incredible breaks tracks, ably assisted on remix duties by man of the moment, Lee Jordan. 

With the best part of three decades at the peak of his powers, to say Ben Summers is a bit of a catch for us is the understatement of the year! As NameSpace (with Ben Shaw), the dynamic duo burst on to the scene back in 2011 and quickly found success with a string of releases. Now returning to the studio after a long hiatus, Ben is as passionate and fired up as he’s ever been. From releases on Nighcolors, Pro B Tech and Stripped, to support from Sasha, Gai Barone and Pete Tong, he resonates everything it is to be an underground dance superstar. 

Ben’s original’s see him dip into uncharted waters with consummate ease. ‘Haunted’ is an epic, floaty downtempo nugget that radiates positivity and joy. A perfect summer ode that jtouches you emotionally. ‘Not Like You’ is a big vocal treat. Deeply satisfying and infectiously catchy, you’ll be humming the melody for weeks. On remix duties, Lee Jordan drops a trademark tough groove. Understated and gnarly, when the bass hits you’ll never be the same again!

Focus FL joins the family with two fantastic breaks. Benwaa and One Week (UK) provide some interesting re-imaginations.  

A veteran of the south Florida rave scene, Focus FL brings some 30 years experience to bare on his kaleidoscopic sound. Signed to a slew of amazing labels including Dissident, JourneyDeep and Perfecto his re-ignited passion for the dance floor is undeniable. Influenced by pioneers such as Union Jack, BT, Paul Van Dyk, and Rabbit in the Moon, Focus FL has continued to develop his sound. Be it House, Breaks or downtempo, your man Focus, got you! 

Both original tracks marry his knowledge of Florida breaks pioneered by the likes of DJ Icey, Kimball Collins and the great Rick West with the rich vein of modern prog from Richie Blacker, Framewerk and Danny Bonicci. ‘Break the Sky’ opens with a snappy percussive framework and ramps up the euphoria with pretty arps, vocal adlibs and delicate piano. In the low end a gritty reese bass holds it all together. 

‘Space Merchant’ takes a more UK-centric twist. Ravey percussions and a trancier lead combine with a growling low end grunt for a more considered trip to wonderland. On remix duties, One Week (UK) opts for a four to the floor mid set pounder of ‘Break The Sky’, utilising the emotive power of the original motifs to great effect, while label favourite and mastering guru, Benwaa, drops a detailed and utterly beguiling breaks revision of ‘Space Merchant’.

To celebrate our hundredth release, we’ve compiled a selection of new original music from current artists Ryan McCormack, Terje Saether, One Week (UK), Focus FL, Ben Summers and Real Gone Kid. 

Covering everything from breaks, melodic house and trance, we look forward to the next 100 releases with joy filled hearts. We also wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you that leave comments and feedback and play our music around the world. Without you, we are nothing!

Doug Crawford lands on ASTIRbreaks with ‘Repose’ + remix from Sean McClellan. 

Hailing from North Carolina, Doug brings decades of musical depth to the table. A classically trained brass and percussion player, his love for electronic music was forged in the legendary Buzz events at Nation (DC) during the ‘90s. That foundation flows into his sound—ranging from dark, tribal-tinged grooves to atmospheric, melodic journeys packed with emotion and energy.

‘Repose’ is pure mood architecture: a hypnotic, slow-burning cut with deep arpeggiated layers, haunting textures, and a rolling bassline that locks you in from the first drop. Whether it’s early set tension-building or 4am warehouse elevation, this one hits the mark. On the remix, Sean McClellan keeps the core vibe intact but pushes it toward the peak hours—a melodic, progressive workout with a driving rhythm and a cinematic crescendo. Perfect for sunrise moments, sweatbox dancefloors, or big room curveballs.

This release is for fans of progressive breaks, deep techno, and dark electronica. Think Watergate, Fabric, or an after-hours Bristol basement. We’re proud to have Doug on board and can’t wait to hear these tunes tearing up dance floors across the world.

Doug Crawford - Repose (Original Mix)

ASTIRbreaks delivers a potent one-two punch with Electronic Youth’s deep breakbeat original “In the Silence” and a stunning rework by ASTIR Recordings Head Honcho, Real Gone Kid.  

With over two decades in the game, Electronic Youth (aka Trevor King) brings an exceptional level of craft to this release. Known under aliases including MIXUS, King & Early, and Dimension Project, Trevor’s genre-spanning background and engineering finesse are evident throughout this composition. 

The Original Mix is a beautifully restrained piece of breakbeat-driven electronica. Built on a bed of warm, rolling low-end and tight percussion, it carries a cinematic weight while maintaining club utility. The ethereal vocal fragments drift hauntingly above lush synth textures, weaving a storytelling narrative that’s both introspective and floor-friendly. A perfect tool for deep, exploratory sets, late-night transitions, or emotion-led mixes. It's a masterclass in mood-building and a shining example of what Electronic Youth continues to bring to the table.

Taking things even further, RGK’s Vocal Mix reimagines the track with heightened pull and elevated vocal clarity, taking the introspective breakbeat cut and flipping it into a deeper, more emotionally charged ride. The vocal takes a more prominent role here; elevated, clearer, and stretched for full expressive impact, giving the track an even more intimate, mysterious feel.   

There’s a richness to the production. Whether it’s the thick pads, the precise FX, or the evolving low-end, that keeps things fresh without ever overwhelming the vibe. RGK has struck a delicate balance between club utility and emotional resonance, making this mix ideal for sunrise sets, after-hours, or deep listening environments.

Together, these tracks showcase the versatility and emotional range of modern breakbeat. Two takes on one emotional core, crafted for different moments on the dancefloor and beyond. Whether you’re a DJ looking for meaningful electronic cuts or a listener looking for chills down their spine; this dual release finds the mark.

Mark Zowie returns to the label for a solo outing: ‘Bermuda’ featuring the remix talents of Gai Barone and Marks band, Novablood. 

Mark, known under an array of pseudonyms including Novablood, We Take Polaroids, Burn The Negative, and most famously, Lil’ Devious has had a long and storied life in dance music. From that early success signed to MoS, Southern Fried, BMG and more, he pivoted towards his singing and songwriting passions playing everywhere from Ibiza Rocks and Glastonbury to opening the main stage at Creamfields with his indie band Burn The Negative. Now back making beats alongside other projects, we are over the moon to have him back. 

‘Bermuda’ is the perfect summer anthem. Blissful, deep and sun-drenched, its melodies playfully hang in the breeze becoming delicate earworms full of happy memories and good times. For his Novablood remix, mark turns darker and more dance floor focused, rhythms pulsate with a calypso tech intensity before the mirage of the breakdown utters warm, glittering words in your ears. Finally, hot from featuring in Deep Dish’s recent Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1, man of the moment Gai Barone drops a fresh beat that screams “Sunrise E-Moment”. 

We’re sure there’s something here for everyone. Play it loud, dance like no ones watching, and remember to not take life too seriously.

Electronic Youth returns in fine form with a sensational DnB remix from A Sides.

We waxed lyrical about Trev before. He’s an OG. He makes fantastic music whether its breaks, prog or funky house. Everything he sends us ultimately ends up being released because he’s a very good producer.

‘In Your Eyes’ is no exception. Deep beats, summery vibes and bags of emotive personality sets this track apart from the usual paint-by-numbers organic house tracks that seem to be everywhere. Dripping with soul, this will work as a warm up vibe or a sunrise vibe full of smiles and positivity. Pianos and summer tunes, there’s just something ancient and wonderful about them. And we are here for all of it. On remix duties, DnB star and Trevors mastering guru A Sides reconstructs the track respectfully to incorporate the main motifs and add that soulful breakbeat energy that’s made Liquid such a success.

Ranj Kaler makes his exciting full release debut with ‘Our One Love’.

Something of a household name now for his incredible work ethic, it might come as a surprise to know up until 2020, Ranj was just a working DJ in the heart of London content to play other people’s music. But then upheaval - the pandemic - a time that brought sea change to many of us in the music industry.

For Ranj, a moment to reflect and to learn new skills - production - which quickly became signed releases for Saturo Sounds, 64K and Four Candles’ Keep Thinking. His fanbase grew. New fans included John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo and from his incredible production style, remixes for Hooj Choons, Liaka Sounds and ARRVL, and bigger and better labels were keen to sign him up.

Successful collaborations with Norman H on Stripped Digital and Fauxplay on Music To Die For have led to his first solo release of the year, and we are over the moon he’s chosen ASTIR. ‘Our One Love’ is a love note to dance music; an obsession decades in the making distilled into audio.

In original form, synths soar against a strong percussive bedrock and chunky bass. warm sweeps glisten as icy pads rise in the background revealing intricate sonic detail that glitters in the periphery. Heartfelt and deeply emotional, this is Ranj unencumbered and in full mastery of his skills.

On remix duties, crowd favourite Silinder makes a welcomed return to the fold honing the emotive elements of the original into his remarkable, unmistakable style, while label head Real Gone Kid takes a break from, uhh, breaks to drop a deep house vibe thick with soul.

We begin with a 2.5-hour extended set that dives deep into the sound, emotion and energy of breaks and electronica in 2025, while also celebrating the roots of the movement stretching back to the early 2000s.

Progressive Breaks has evolved into something powerful and forward-thinking, and ASTIRbreaks is proud to be at the forefront. With five releases already out and a packed release schedule running right through the next year, the journey has only just begun.

ASTIRbreaks returns with an emotionally charged and sonically expansive release from Mind at Large, and a groundbreaking remix from Lee Jordan.

The original mix is a finely crafted journey through shimmering sound design and layered melodic storytelling. Built around warm, undulating pads, textured atmospheres, and precision-crafted breakbeats, “Homecoming” unfolds with patience and purpose. 

The track’s pacing is deliberate, its structure cinematic, drawing the listener in with subtle emotional cues and allowing the rhythm to breathe. Echoes of ambient techno and early progressive house blend seamlessly into the breaks framework, creating a sense of nostalgia while still feeling unmistakably current. On remix duties, rising UK talent Lee Jordan brings a distinct and innovative reinterpretation. His version leans into a more club-ready format, stripping the original back and rebuilding it from the ground up. The result is a hypnotic, acid-tinged roller, driven by crisp percussion, bubbling 303-style sequences, and a locked groove that channels tension and momentum in equal measure. 

Jordan’s remix keeps the emotional thread alive but refracts it through a darker, more mesmeric lens, perfect for those who like their breaks deep, trippy, and low-slung. With its confident restraint and tasteful sound palette, this remix is primed for discerning selectors looking to create powerful moments without resorting to excess.
