It’s a rare treat to get new Arcatype music. Three passionate music lovers who are striving to put music first, art first, meaning first. It can be hard to find sometimes. But this is what Arcatype do, and this is why when they proffer new music, it means something. And why we therefore obviously love to sign their music. 

And so we’re delighted to welcome them back for their latest outing with us, a solid two-tracker in the form of ‘Snow Days’ and ‘Split The Harp.’ 

The trio are in no rush to flood the market with music, or release something just for the sake of it. Waiting until they can all be in the studio together to write, an almost forgotten art and methodology, they carefully craft their tracks with a love and detail that sometimes seems to be missing these days. And it’s no different with their latest single.

The musical maestro Flipper is back with a new EP for 2025. He once again shows his flair for creating a perfect blend of melodic atmospherics and dancefloor destroying beats. The EP begins with the beautiful True that rolls along with evolving synths and infectious bass. Noir Pt 2 begins with an ominous soundscape and haunting instruments that accompany the epic build of breaks and hypnotic bassline to create a perfect mix of dark and light. Worm Dance starts on a lighter note with blissful pads and percussion before it explodes with amen edits, strings and uplifting keys. The EP ends on the equally magnificent Mushroom Forest that starts out with a fairy tale like synths and horn stabs that morph into a hybrid journey of deep DnB, Ska and classic Hardcore breaks; a unique and ever evolving journey that concludes this thundering new EP.

Enjoy some (new) music. This is a track I started back in 2017 when I got into producing Drum and Bass music. I recently dug it out and reworked it to fit into a more adequate musical context, since it was quite experimental in its original form. You can still tell that the ideas came from experimenting and learning new sounds, especially the way the first part of the song is.
