Drip by drip, drop by drop - the cup began to bubble like some sort of wild cauldron. It was all illuminated by the hazy murky glow of the streetlights which were all seeing and all knowing as they looked down upon the corner with a wicked orange fog.

One sip and it were as if time was moving ever so slowly - the noises which echoed all around were no longer there and the city was silent and asleep for a moment.

Wandering step by step, through the sprawling mirage of streets, boarded up shutters and empty buildings were all that was left to guide him from place to place. Sometimes it was better to be lost than found, besides whenever he needed to find solace in something, there was a purple whirlpool nearby for that.

Astral Black celebrate ten strong years in the game with the release of a new compilation which features family favourites and good friends. Dj Milktray, Jossy Mitsu, Will Lister and more all feature on the new compilation called 'Frass FM VI'. This track from Sivey did the business for us...

The latest offering from @astralblack comes in the form of 'Metropolis N' the new LP from New York's @nigelthreetimes.

"Being heavily influenced by science fiction, I always toyed with the concept of time in my projects," he says. "Nothing is ever linear and some albums are prequels despite the order of release. 'EARLY MORNING FROM 103RD STREET' is the calm during the storm. While chaos ensues after the opening track, track 2 is just waking up. Times Square is wildin' and 103rd Street in Corona, Queens has no idea what's heading in its direction via the 7 train."

Astral Black step back in the ring with the 5th instalment of their 'Frass FM' compilation series. The UK label follow up Xao's critically acclaimed 'Eternal Care Unit' LP with these 16 exclusive tracks from some of the most exciting names in British club music, both this decade and last.

Illusive Astral Black OG, DJ Milktray turns in the skippy club bubbler Instinct, his first release for 4 years. Tiff's Joints label-head Poison Zcora (FKA Born Cheating) takes the Frass FM opportunity to make his production debut with the gloriously bounce-strapped, broken stomper, 'Victory Over The British Museum'. Rinse FM/6-Figure Gang's Jossy Mitsu brings us the second of our production debuts with the breaks-laden 'Whirl', whilst elsewhere fellow Rinse FM resident, Izco, handles intro duties with deep chords and rolling percs. Maxwell Owin (South London Jazz scene's answer to Rick Rubin) teams up with Anurah on the fittingly titled 'TOI 700 d', named after our closest habitable planet; and long-term Astral Black affiliate & Co-op/Soulection member Sivey reimagines Dave Gruisin's 'Modaji' into a holy-spirit capturing 160-bpm foot-work roller.

She floated through the sky, navigating her pathway between the stars and the sun. Her quest always took her to unchartered territories, to spaces and places unknown. Tonight: a far off planet, tomorrow: the outer reaches of the solar system. There were no limits to where she could travel — that was the beauty of the imagination...

The next offering on Astral Black comes from Circadian Rhythms alumni THUGWIDOW and Pure Life's Bruised Skies; a debut collaboration from the pair that marries their diverse yet complimentary outputs. While the former crafts his own modern, sparse take on jungle, the latter's strength lies in hyper-real ambience, which together makes for euphoric results. Across the four tracks on 'Requiem For a Sesh' the duo bring a concoction of sounds to the mix, moving through disfigured breaks and frantic bass to celestial piano melodies and sliced up vocal samples.
