The third chapter in On Board Music’s The Meaning Of Time compilation series takes a different approach. The label engaged its community with an open call for tracks, and then tasked its core, established artists with remixes of each. The resulting, 22-track offering is a sublime snapshot of modern ambient and deep techno, showcasing the label’s richly talented roster and an exciting next generation. As with the previous compilations, all proceeds will be donated to Sea Watch and the important work they do for the migrant crisis in the Mediterranean Sea.

If ambient tracks were salads, then most would be best described as caprese: a slice of some mozzarella, a slice of tomato, stick a basil leaf on top, and drizzle it with balsamic vinegar. Done! Enjoy! In other words, “ambient” salads are typically constructed with just a couple of carefully chosen and carefully mixed ingredients. Sometimes, ingredients are of good quality and the track shines and sometimes not so much. It’s a real treat, then, when an ambient chef presents us with a little more than a caprese. 

Uanamani clearly earns a Michelin star when it comes to salads: Sexto Sentido is a musical version of something like a Mexican salad: countless ingredients, bursting with colors, shapes and flavors, skillfully mixed. Add some playful corn melodies, add black beans for something rhythmic, throw some cilantro to add freshness, some peppers for spice. You could hear all that and more in 5 minutes during the track and it’s a real treat for the senses. Sexto Sentido and the rest of the Forbidden Islands EP is out on February 21st.

He is perhaps best known for his diligent approach to deep techno which is both surgically precise and unashamedly heartfelt. Davide previously released solo works via Edit Select or Planet Rhythm and recorded mixes for one of our favourite communities - the Korean Oslated - as well as Dino Sabatini's Outis podcast series. 

For this chapter of Introspective Electronics, he delivers a journey that seamlessly and patiently blends his deep techno sensibilities with dark ambient dronescapes, high-pressure hypnotic repetitions, a pinch of tribalism and textural experiments. A walk through a landscape in winter, barren fields and dense forests glistening with freshly fallen snow and each step forward whispers a tale of long forgotten springs buried in the soil below ✨🌚🌝✨
