It's a tribute to a distinct memory of playing for my favorite humans in one of our most favorite places. Ben Preisinger is an alter ego of Benjamin Perényi who has grown up in a family of musicians where the culture of instrumental classical music has passed through generations.
According to his father's intention, Benjamin started his piano studies quite early. He graduated as a pianist but besides his piano studies he started studying sound engineering and producing electronic music. As the years passed he has got deeply influenced by the northern and italian techno scene. In the past years he has released an EP and single tracks as well at Pablo Bolivar’s Seven Villas and Seven Villas Voyage label. Ben is also a vinyl enthusiast, music collector and a nature lover who is focusing on the melancholic and hypnotic as well as nature sounds in his works.

Here is an imagined journey though the layers of nature and inner emotions. The location is Iceland, Holtsbryggja, Önundarfirði. Tracks are from Biosphere, Luigi Tozzi, Acronym, Sebastian Mullaert (Wa Wu We), Vanessa Amara, Skymn, Asfa, Periskop, Neel, Pan American, BLNDR, Aquiver, Antendex and field recordings from Iceland.

Mysteries of the Deep CXXIII - Clay Wilson

As we’re all sat at home during the lockdown, wondering what life is like for others in the same situation, (or in some instances imagining life in a far away world…), I pictured a situation where I was scanning through FM radio stations and listening in on various moments - different worlds, weird sounds, some recognizable, some jarring, and some comforting. I thought it would be nice once this mix was broadcast on Xray FM, as if this moment was being bounced back to me from another planet. (OK, I think through concepts way too much sometimes).

100% vinyl, this mix was, however, very nearly thrown in the trash. I accidentally recorded it in mono and once I had realized this mistake, I got pretty annoyed, as anybody would. But then I gave it some time and listened back, and felt the aesthetic suited the overall concept and theme pretty well - especially as an original FM transmission. Our trusty friend https://soundcloud.com/djtodos even polished the mix a little to help bring out the frequencies for re-uploading. 

I’m a big believer in vinyl sets capturing a moment in time. Digital sets you can repeat, perfect and start again (they have their own benefits), but this one was gone, and despite the mistake, in my eyes, it adds a little charm knowing this set as you know it (and like all live vinyl sets) will never be repeated again in 100% the same manner, and I can refer back to the exact memory this was made.

Tomas Jirku - Touching The Sublime [SSV18]

Tomas Jirku began his career in the golden era of minimal and glitch techno, helping to define the genres through releases on Alien8, Force Inc., Klang Elektronik, and Traum. Over the past two decades, Jirku has built a strong repertoire with his exploratory approach to music, experimenting across genres to develop a sound he can call his own.

“Touching the Sublime” is the culmination of this work, with material transformed through performance, experience and introspection. Inspired by his explorations of the remote wilderness that surrounds his home in Vancouver, Canada, Jirku evokes the philosophical concept of the sublime, where an overwhelming experience of awe confronts us with the limits of our rational minds. The album is a synesthetic auditory expression of Romantic era prose and stories of early alpinism. Bringing epic orchestral compositions and intimate guitar passages together with Jirku’s unique sense of space and texture, “Touching the Sublime” draws from his most important collaborators and influences to create a uniquely personal result. 

The album is accompanied by a limited edition photo book, where, as an accomplished photographer, Jirku has captured the landscapes and vistas that have been his inspiration.
