Háry János is a Hungarian folk opera in four acts by Zoltán Kodály to a Hungarian libretto by Béla Paulini  and Zsolt Harsányi, based on the comic epic The Veteran (Az obsitos) by János Garay.

The playlist presents previews of the incidental music from Háry János performed by the Portuguese Gulbenkian Orchestra led by Lawrence Foster. Together they recorded their powerful and impressive performances with PENTATONE in rich and vibrant sound. Bartók's First Rhapsodie, Kodály's Dances from Galanta, and Ligeti's Romanian Concerto are also featured in the album.
