Earlier last year, Luke Chable's return “COMET” EP (released on ZERO THREE) instantly climbed into BEATPORT Top 5 and prompted Above & Beyond to propose him a guest mix spot on their massively famous “Group Therapy” radio show.

Consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, The Midnight have emerged in recent years as a veritable leader of the synthwave resurgence. More specifically, the duo have received generous support from legions of synthwave enthusiasts, as well as more casual synth-pop fans, ever since their aesthetic-defining debut EP "Los Angeles" (2014). Their subsequent LP offering, "Endless Summer" (2016), cemented the duo's reputation as one of the finest new synthwave acts, a sentiment that musical legends (Chicane), renowned artist peers (FM-84), and prominent genre hubs (NewRetroWave) have graciously reinforced of late. The Midnight Remixed, one of our most ambitious releases to date, features brand new remixes by a distinguished group of Silk Music veterans, whose melodic and atmospheric sound has significantly helped to define our brand. We've also recruited a few famed nonresident label contributors, including Lifelike and Michael Cassette, whose specific compositional gifts and musical legacies seemed especially apropos to this 80s-influenced endeavor. 

The Midnight Remixed showcases breathtaking new interpretations of The Midnight's past work, ranging in style from drum & bass and deep house to trance & progressive. Michael Cassette, Johan Vilborg, Dezza, Lifelike, PROFF, Terry Da Libra, Sundriver, and Talamanca's exhilarating, club-oriented interpretations feature rapturous chords, and, of course, Tyler's mellifluous and infectious vocal hooks. Offerings from Marsh, Vintage & Morelli, eleven.five, and Mango vs. We Are All Astronauts convey a deeper and more introspective musical tone, but are nonetheless equally memorable.

Australian composer Approaching Black (a.k.a. Shannon Riches) has been a musical contributor to our label since 2009, thereby making him one of the longest-tenured artists in our ranks. His unforgettable songs -- known for their distinctively sensual and lush textures, in addition to their melodic, atmospheric, and transportive qualities -- remain cherished touchstones that have greatly helped us refine our label's emotive sound through the years, in various electronic subgenres.

We are thereby especially pleased to present Approaching Black's debut artist album, "Dusk," which is split into two parts and comprises twenty-five total songs. The first part of "Dusk" treats listeners to predominately deep and progressive house compositions, for which the Melbourne-based producer is perhaps most known. Amongst his passionate fans are fellow label veterans Shingo Nakamura, Sound Quelle, and Brandon Mignacca, all of whom have collaborated with Approaching Black on at least one album track. The chemistry between Approaching Black and all three of these phenomenal veteran talents is simply extraordinary, with Mignacca's lyrical and vocal contributions to "One Minute Longer" and "Revive" proving to be especially profound and beautiful. More than a half dozen other instrumental tracks on the first part of the album, including the mellifluous "Closer" and "Higher," equally showcase Shannon's gifts as a sonic storyteller and deft craftsman of deeper grooves.

Featuring emotive textures and evolving soundscapes, the two-part album represented the pinnacle of our vision of forward-thinking electronic music. We are thrilled to return to 'Dusk' through the lenses of four extraordinary talents on our roster: Forerunners, Movement Machina, Sundriver, and label newcomer Lar Gibbons. A few months ago, Australian sensation Veeshy treated us to “Let Me Down” (w/ Brandon Mignacca), a synthwave-influenced gem. Similarly inspired by retro-tinged electronic music, Veeshy now presents “Sunset Strip,” a spellbinding new cut, featuring the evocative lyrics and honeyed vocals of Bay Area-based talent Phonic Youth.

Astroleaf was born in Norway in 1991. Growing up listening to trance in his teen years he became interested in producing music at the age of 17. He started out trying to replicate the sound of his favorite trance songs, and gradually became better at production over time. In 2015 after having experimented with different genres like Progressive House, Chillout and Trance, he started writing lyrics and recording vocals for his own tracks. After putting up songs and remixes on different music sites, and releasing some tracks through an independent distributor, he was finally discovered in 2017 by Silk Music. His first official release was Open Your Heart featuring a remix by LTN, and not much later came the second release which was a collaboration with Mango, called We Tried. Astroleaf's music is made with a lot of heart, and is an expression of his own love for music.
